DJI Cinema Color Science
With the Ronin 4D-8K, DJI showcases the groundbreaking DJI Cinema Color Science (DCCS), which delivers natural skin tones that are both incredibly accurate and aesthetically pleasing, even in complex lighting conditions. Tailored for professional aerial and ground-based imaging equipment, DCCS unlocks boundless creative possibilities by vividly reproducing the kaleidoscopic colors perceived by the human eye. The DCCS color engine boasts a new algorithm, enabling smooth yet detailed images, high bit-width internal color and tone processing for natural transitions, and multiple high-precision LUT processing modules for precise color adjustments in diverse lighting conditions.

Complementing DCCS is the CineCore image processing platform, developed by DJI to deliver high-quality digital intermediates for post-production. Equipped with a proprietary chip and advanced processor architecture, CineCore supports up to 8K videos in professional codecs like Apple ProRes RAW, ProRes 422 HQ, H.264, and like on the Inspire 3, CinemaDNG. The D-Gamut color space is optimized for richer green coloring and skin tone representation. Covering over 14 stops of dynamic range, D-Log curve ensures detailed highlight and shadow retention even in challenging lighting, aligning effortlessly with ARRI cinema camera color and supporting the ACES workflow. With its film-consistent symmetrical dynamic distribution, DCCS preserves delicate and natural transitions in highlight areas, making it the ideal choice for filmmakers seeking unparalleled image quality and color grading flexibility.

ACES Compatibility
Empowering filmmakers with a seamless and standardized color management experience, the Academy Color Encoding System (ACES) is a collaborative effort by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, professional filmmakers, and color scientists. From image capture to final screening, ACES, now officially certified for DJI Ronin 4D, Inspire 3, and Zenmuse X7, ensures a consistent color journey, preserving the filmmaker's creative vision across various professional equipment and screening standards.

Hello,
I have three questions regarding the DJI Ronin 4D 8K Camera:
  • Can a Mattbox or Lens Hood be placed on Third party Supported Lenses such as the Sony FE 50mm F1.2 GM?
  • Can 8K60p ProRes RAW be written to CFast Express 4.0 Type B Cards? Prograde Digital makes these Cards with a Minimum Write Speed of 2400 MB/s.
  • Can the Camera write Internally to Blackmagic RAW format so that footage can be imported directly into Davinci Resolve?
If the answer to any of these is "no", then could you please forward it as an Enhancement Request to the Design/ Marketing Department at DJI?
   Thank You.
Regards,
Domalpalli

Hello,
I have three questions regarding the DJI Ronin 4D 8K Camera:

Hi there, thank you for reaching out.
1. May I know if you mean the lens hood for the DJI DL PZ 17-28 mm?
2. Currently the ProRes RAW only supports storage to DJI PROSSD, which does not support other memory cards.
3. Sorry to inform you that the Blackmagic RAW format is not supported.

Hi there, thank you for reaching out.
1. May I know if you mean the lens hood for the DJI DL PZ 17-28 mm?
2. Currently the ProRes RAW only supports storage to DJI PROSSD, which does not support other memory cards.

Hi,

For Question No.1
I was referring to the Lens:  "Sony FE 50mm F1.2 GM"
DJI says this lens is supported on the Ronin 4D-8K Camera.
So if I attach a Lens Hood or Matt-Box to this lens, will the Camera's Stabilization still work?

For Question No.2
Please ask your Technical/ Design Group to make ProRes RAW writing possible to CFast Express B Cards? They can do this as a Firmware Update. The latest CFast Cards are extremely fast and have a high Minimum Write Speed. Check ProGrade Digital CFExpress 4.0 B Gold Cards.

For Question No.3
Please ask your Technical/ Design Group to Create an Option to write Blackmagic RAW to CFast Express B Cards? Then Filmmakers will be able to import Video Files directly into Davinci Resolve.

Thank You.

About question 1, it will not affect the gimbal stabilization as long as the gimbal can balance.
However, the Lens hood may interfere with the AF of Lidar.

About question 1, it will not affect the gimbal stabilization as long as the gimbal can balance.
However, the Lens hood may interfere with the AF of Lidar.

Thank you for your quick response.
Two more followup questions:
  • If the Gimbal cannot balance exactly, is the solution to just add/ adjust the counterbalance?
  • If the Lens is a longer lens with a Hood / Mattbox, would it be possible to raise or move the Lidar and mount it about 2 to 3 inches higher or to the side? Perhaps this can be done with an extension? This is an important problem that many filmmakers who wish to use thirdparty lenses will face. Please consult with your technical / design team.
Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for great product - DJI Ronin 4D 8K Camera.
I have some Enhancement Requests for the Next Iteration of Product.
Please forward to development team. Thank you.

        1.        Implement ProRes RAW HQ and BRAW options.
        2.        Implement Focus Breathing Compensation for all supported cameras.
        3.        Implement Wide Angle Distortion Correction for non DJI DL Mount Lenses also.
        4.        Design for heavier lenses with Shade/ MattBox. Position Lidar so it’s not blocked.
        5.        Implement (better) Eye autofocus on moving subjects. Also, implement animal eye autofocus.
        6.        Implement Lidar functionality in dark/ closed spaces and over 30ft.
        7.        Implement AI based Through-the-Lens Focus to complement Lidar.
        8.        At low ISO, it should favor Highlights. Converse at high ISO (right now, it is the other way around).
        9.        Fix Excessive Rolling Shutter/ Implement Global Shutter.
        10.        In Dynamic Range Expansion mode, implement at least 8K 60fps ideally 8K 120fps.
        11.        Implement writing of all formats (including RAW) to CFAST express B cards.
        12.        Implement Continuous, Auto, Electronic, Internal ND (like in Sony Burano).
        13.        Accept V-Mount Batteries.
        14.        Implement attachment of Camera/ Sensor directly to Brains (without Gimbal) so Heavy Lenses can be used in traditional format.
        15.        Implement Open Gate for Anamorphic use.
        16.        High-Bright Remote Monitor should have HDMI-Out for Director’s Monitor feed. Right now, have to buy separate "DJI Remote Monitor Expansion Plate".
        17.        Lighten the package weight.

Thanks very much.
