yes, for follow me you need a device that has gps built in, otherwise the p3 has no way of knowing where you are in order to follow you

Just a quick question - If you tether a GPS device to the Ipad mini 2 then would the app see this making "Follow me" work?

I would use a Bluetooth gps instead

Yes, I use a IPad mini2 plus Garmin GLO and it works great.

Using iPad Air 2 with a Bluetooth XGPS160 and it works like a charm !
