Interesting experiment, and most succesful. What was the blue half-disc drifting right to left behind the moon?  Venus?

SInce all the planets are travelling the same way around the sun (anti-clockwise) it must be one that's moving quicker than we are - or our rotation on earth's axis makes it appear to.

Vega seems to be a possibility, but it may be this one is moving in the opposite direction if Im reading the star chart correctly.

I'm no wiser now.  I'd have been no good as a sailor/navigator
Maybe RDB will have a better idea.

I'll try and remember to go out tonight and point my app at the sky and see if it's still there.

I think it is an artifact from the lens.

I'm not sure I agree.
As it's a timelapse. The pocket 3 and the lens would be unmoving, whereas everything we see is moving in relation to the observation point - including the object in question.
But I'm no astronomer, so I remain puzzled

Very nice project DA.    I'm guessing you had it charging during this shoot.

With the battery handle attached the best battery time I've got while shooting 4K was 3 hours and 50 minutes.

When you see the next version of the stars I think it's clear the error is a lens artificate.

I did do that at the end of the garden away from as many lights as possible,    and then prayed it didnt rain.

Sometimes you have to take some risk for getting the shot. And this campsite is a good place for that.

A closed group like that probably cuts down on the crime,   and If it was on a beach then the owner could be close by and not worth the risk.

And the visitors are usually more or less a certain type. Nature lovers and peaceful.
Not all of them, but the majority.
But still a risk.
