Hi.

I hooked up the Sennheiser Professional MKE 200 to my Action 4 camera. It was picked up and the metering bar appears onscreeen and bounced around when I tap the mic or talk into it, so all good there. I hit record and talk into the mic loudly. I press the playback button to view/hear the clip and there is no audio to be heard ! I tapped the sound icon and made sure it was dialed up as the video played back...

Suggestions ?

This is correct.  The same is happening for my Comica VM-10 Pro.  The audio is actually being played through the 3.5mm jack if I plug a headphone into the line-out port of my Comica.

Doesnt sound like its compatible with the Action 4, I just did a quick test with a cheap of cheap Ali Express wireles mics (£10) and that works as expected, it records audio on to the original footage, not waht you wanted to hear. Ive just looked at your mic, it looks like you would need to use a jack plug to a USB-C adapator is that right? If so then it could just be the adaptor itself.

I've seen alot of YouTube review videos with people using the same mic with the Action 4...it's all good for them. Yes, I used a recommdended jack-to-usbC cable. It works for the recording as I see the meter on the camera move with sound.....hmmm.

As it works for others then it has to be the adaptor, ask the others what adaptor they use.

It looks like user error. If I unplug the cable from the camera before it boots up the sound is there when playing the video. If the cable is plugged into the USB port then there is no sound.

As I was saying before, this is "normal".  The audio is being played through your external microphone as though it had an external port.   In my case, I have to just plug a pair of headphones into my Comica VM-10 Pro, if I don't want to unplug the USB-C cable  to hear the playback.

EDIT: mine works ok on playback on the O4, I had to click the greyed out speaker in the top right and then slid the volume up to hear it.
To be honest, its my 1st time playing anything back on the device.

Not sure why he's having trouble...
