I know people are speculating.  I want to upgrade to a new Mavic, but don’t want to get the Mavic 3 pro if the Mavic 4 release date is soon.  Opinions?  When is it coming out?!!

These threads are a touch silly.  Why not ask about the Mavic 5S?

Cause I thought someone might actually have a clue.  It’s kinda fun seeing all the made up answers. August 27th is hilarious.

This is the exact reason DJI keeps new products a secret as long as possible. If they were to hint at any kind of timeframe it would almost immediately kill the sales of their current lineup. Aside from some massive internal leak, we won't know about it until a few weeks before release when it'll show up on the FCC database. So the only guarantee now is it's definitely not coming out within the next few weeks. Learn how to use the search tool or Google instead of creating yet another identical thread.

My bet is that the Mavic 4 won't be released in the next 6 months and will be priced higher. I expect a price above 2500 dollars/euro. By adding a possibly new smart controller, filters and batteries, the price will be a deciding factor for the purchase. Let's not forget that for Europe C1 certification is also important. And we come to the main question: How much better than the Mavic 3 will the Mavic 4 be and whether it will justify the higher price.
And the question that the author of the topic must answer is whether he is ready to wait 1 year or more for answers to the above questions.

Hi everyone! I owned Mavic 3 until recently, and in my opinion now is the best time to sell it and take Mavic 4 upon the release of the new version. Also I fly FPV on this I do not worry about the lack of a drone

Aside from any solid leaks, the next best thing is historical data to make a more (slightly) accurate prediction. The "minis" were introduced in 2019 and have had eight different versions and 4 gen changes. That's about 1 generational change per year. DJI, like any company wants to make a consumer product for hobbyists that will move off shelves. After the "air" dropped the mavic name, they've had 3 gen releases since 2020, less than mini but still an near annual release. It's a hobbyist drone where whatever tech is around they throw in there and get it out. These two drones are like iPhones. People upgrade all the time, iPhones haven't done much but change colors in quite a few years.

The Mavic is a pro/prosumer. Only 3 generations since 2016. They updated some of these with diff cameras but clearly the focus is on the regular consumer. They cram tech in these for pros then it's future proofed. So there 16, 18, 21, then all the within gen versions (diff cams). Late 2025 maybe.

July/August 2024 timeframe I’m waiting on one myself. Recently passed the Part 107 and was going to treat myself to the Mavic 3 PRO but decided to wait on a couple things , the release of 4 and the lawmakers in Washington on trying to ban DJI drones

No one has a clue.

DJI will insist the Mavic 3 is the current gen drone with no timeframe on the mavic 4, right up until its basically impossible to keep quite anymore..

The best indicator will be when DJI is selling the Mavic 3 kits around 30% off. From that point we will start seeing leeks and rumors from people breaking NDAs, anywhere from 3-9months after that..

The current direction for consumer drones the mavic 4 will have less features then the mavic 3, much like the mavic 2.

It's really hard to find leaks about this. I bought Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Pro came out right after. I'm so sorry, if I had known, I would have waited for the pro. But I couldn't do anything about it. I hope Mavic 4 comes with vertical shooting solutions soon.

The phantom line of drones is done..

They have no place anymore with DJI current sales model.
