It makes no sense and the Sheriff should have investigated the incident. It is unlawful to shoot down an aircraft that is in flight occupied or unmanned.

The owner of the aircraft should contact the FAA. FAA vs Small Town Sheriff is a pretty one-sided fight.

That said: James Inhofe was involved in this event. Do you really expect the attendees to be reasonable, sane people?
