Hello friends, we send our drones over an active volcano (with a volcanic eruption) and then descend into the crater. The volcano spews lava bombs (from 6 cm in size they are called bombs) towards the drone, a propeller is hit, the area is as if shaved. Can be seen in the video by the image offset at 01:39.

Epic footage.    Glad the drone wasn't knocked out of the air by those lava bombs.

We didn’t always take every drone back with us. The volcano is unpredictable. Air displacement by gases is just one example. In such a case, the drone no longer has any buoyancy. The link shows you a crashed copter. There are 2 photos in one post.

Thank you very much my friend. This video is also on our YouTube channel. That was the biggest challenge. to fly the drone into an ash cloud without getting lost. I'm not aware of anything like this on the internet. Unfortunately, the recordings receive little attention on the Internet

YES However, we had to take the engines apart because Lapilli pyroclasts throw iron-containing material upwards. The magnets of the motors then almost stop. You can also hear that in the video. If someone blocks it, then that’s it. We always prepare, everything is planned accordingly and implemented consciously. A danger to the drone and machine cannot be avoided. We were there for 3-4 weeks each time for 5 years and observed the volcano very closely. So we got better and better.

Thank you very much, the drone did a good job and so did we. In the photo you can see the propeller that was hit, which is exactly what it looked like after being hit by a lava bomb. The Frame-Offset in the Video minute 1:39
Many experiments were necessary because gases mixed with water vapor or H2O constantly obscured the view.
