I just got the Controller 3 for my Avata2 and used with Manual mode fine.
The only problem is that my Start/Stop button (bottom right button) doesn't do anything.

Is there a way to fix/bind this so it functions as the emergency stop button?

thx

You double-press it to arm (throttle needs to be all the way down). In order to use it as emergency stop, that feature needs to be enabled under Settings > Safety > Advanced Safety Settings. Once that is enabled, double-pressing start/stop button in-flight will disarm motors.

Thank you so much for this information.  I will try it out.  I’m very surprised that dji support did not tell me to try this as they told me to fill out the online repair form and send my controller back in!

I’ll try this first !

Hi there. Thank you for reaching out. Regarding the Flight Pause/Return to Home Button, you need to press once to make the aircraft brake and hover in place (this is only exclusive when GNSS or Vision System are available). Make sure that the pitch stick and roll stick return to the center, and push the throttle stick to resume control of the flight. You can also press and hold the button until the remote controller beeps and starts RTH. During RTH or auto landing, you can cancel the RTH or initiate the landing when you press the button once. When using Normal or Sport mode, press the button once to cancel the Low Battery RTH countdown when the prompt appears in the goggles, and the aircraft will not enter Low Battery RTH. Hope this helps.

I  was thinking the same but mine did not arm either in M left stick down, so II have to program right 3 position for arm/disarm

I have the same problem. I turned on the safety option to double tap to shut down the motors. Then I started flying in manual regularly with the controller fpv 3 but the single click to stop the drone does not work at all. Any idea ? Could be a controller issues ?

Hi there, thank you for reaching out and we do apologize for the experience. To arm the device, simply double-press the button while ensuring that the throttle is completely down. If you wish to use it as an emergency stop, you'll need to enable this feature in the Settings menu, specifically under Safety > Advanced Safety Settings. Once this feature is enabled, you can disarm the motors during flight by double-pressing the start/stop button.

If the issue still persists, kindly share us the logs fo us to investigate further.

Keep us posted, thank you for your understanding and support!

The double click on the start/pause button to shut down motors works. The double click to arm the drone with the left stick down works too. The only thing I don’t understand is how to activate the stop functionality to pause the drone in the air using the fpv controller 3. Shouldn’t be a simple single click on the start/stop button to pause it ?

In Safety -> Advanced safety option I only have the following:
1) aircraft signal lost action
2) emergency propeller stop

I don’t see any option regarding one click to stop the aircraft.
Am I missing something?

The button on the left with the pause sign used for RTH will pause the drone in flight or switch the flight mode switch from M to S or N.

Thank you for your update. Regarding your inquiry, please try below steps :

  • Enter the menu of the goggles, and then go to Settings > Control > Remote Controller Settings > Button Customization.
  • Customize the button to Stop Motors, or you can push the control sticks to the inner corners or outer corners to stop motors.

I hope this helps with your inquiry. Thank you and have a great day !

I have exactly the same. I don't want to turn off the engines in flight. I want to stop the flight in an emergency. The drone should hover. Is this possible with controller 3?
