I have one similar. But, I am going to look for something that is JUST a slip-on cover without the gimbal lock portion. It just doesn't work that well, and certainly not as well as the stock one. Since I don't have a simple slip-on cap yet, I currently use both. It took a few minutes of sitting down and analyzing how the stock one goes on and how it has to be done in order to not slip off on its own, but once I did, it goes on in about 10 seconds.
One thing I had to do with my slip-on with lock was to insert a layer of Scotch Tape in two places to tighten up the slip-on action so it didn't fall off. I did this on the inside of the filter, so the tape was between the filter and the circumference of the camera UV filter. It only took a couple of places a half inch wide to take up the slack and snug things up.
Someone is making (saw it online somewhere) a better version lock that actually locks the gimbal to the quad, instead of just locking the camera to the gimbal. This relieves some of the stress on the rubber vibration mounts, as well as the camera to the gimbal. |
