As this will shoot 4k does anyone have any recommendations on software for the Mac? Just to give you an idea of what systems I have one older and 1 a little newer but wasn't really sure what to get. Looking for some first hand experience thanks ahead of time.

Yes computer configuration is really important in 4K, i'm also updating mine, actually with a mac pro i will probably switch to a PC
The new mac pro is of course a must, but with all added equipments price is x3 the 3000$ basic configuration...!
As i understand high frequency processor is more important than many core, graphic card don't need more than 2Giga because premiere using the gpu between 1 and 1,5G, really important is Ram 32G+ seems to be  effective, with of course ssd for premiere or davinci.

Reading this thread, I wonder if my 2014 retina Macbook Pro (2.8 GHz quad-core i7 Haswell, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, GT 750 2GB Nvidia) will handle it. I use Final Cut Pro X.

MTShipp, That Retina MBP WILL Handle 4K video editing.  Trade ya for my mid-2012 Macbook Air POWERHOUSE! :-P
