I saw this. Just wondering if anyone has been part of beta testing it, or any info whatsoever?

Sounds like Litchi of the iOS world.

Sounds very interesting and I will probably be purchasing it.  I, like others want these apps to succeed and become better when they compete against each other.  I can't wait to try it out.

I believe that apps like these will be the downfall of the public owning "drones".

Why do you think that it will be the downfall of the public owning UAV.

Apple only?  Forget it.

I see Android being worked on, though.  Still, until it's actually released...

Swed,

I'm not sure why you don't trust autonomous flight. For me, it's one of the best ways to explore a new area or get some more precise footage of what I really want to see. I do a great deal of autonomous flying although not near public places where people are normally present. Mostly in somewhat remote areas with good satellite penetration. I've been flying this way very successfully with my P2V+v3 and my P3Pro with the Litchi and Ultimate Flight apps. I also have been flying autonomously with my Solo and the Tower app.

I love free flying but if I want to cruise a long distance through the crooks and curves of a river, creek or around the shoreline of my lake it's a great way to fly. As long as you spend the time building, checking and rechecking your work before putting the bird in the air it pretty much works flawlessly. After a year and a half of extensive flying (I hope I don't jinx myself) I haven't had a single Ground Station or Waypoint issue. I have on the other hand, had a handful or two of self-created issues while free flying. To each his own, I guess.

Swed,

I wasn't suggesting nor recommending FreeSkies. I don't own nor have I ever flown with FreeSkies, I use Litchi on the Android OS 98% of the time. Just didn't want to leave the impression that I was endorsing FreeSkies. I was just providing insight into autonomous flight.

In the professional world of law enforcement & military drones...  The common thought is to NEVER give direct control to the operator... "he will just crash it".  They ALWAYS use GPS and ground station software.  They almost NEVER fly under direct control.  Of course they have much more expensive and precise GPS systems onboard with backup systems.
Not saying it's right for the P3...  I just wanted people to understand another point of view.

Ronny,

Thanks for the info. I was thinking about giving it a shot but wasn't really looking forward to it. Now I don't have to. I'm very happy with Litchi anyway.
