I ordered this extender, has anyone used one and does it really work to extend the range as I don't get the range that is documented in the Inspire specs

Yes it works. It turns your omni directional antennas into a directional. Which means when you use it the RC should be pointed in the direction of your A/C for maximum effectiveness. I was able fly down range 5200 meters and still had both control and video. The battery was the weak link. It's a cheap and effective way to boost your range and signal stability.

I ordered it on eBay, have not gotten it yet but will report back on the signal. It was around $20.

Okie dokie let us all know. I would be interested considering it's not expensive at all.

I didnt make a long range test but the signal is more stable to what I had before.

Higher quality made of all aluminum instead of plastic and tin foil. Unfortunately looks as though it has been discontinued by the seller. Other options are available.

I find this interesting, but the thing that concerns me is the direction of the antenna booster. It appears to be pointing at the ground, even it just slightly, instead of the sky. Wouldn't you want to point your RC antennas downward then install the booster so that it is facing skyward?

The pic above shows the proper installation and application.

I have been using one for a while now seems to work pretty good I have good strong signals.  I use small O rings on the antennas to keep it locked into place

well, very nice mod, but what's the point? I mean, i1 already can fly up to 3000 ft away, at least I did it without any signal losing. Why do we need more boost for the range, I think the range of i1 already good enough. Also the battery life only can do 18 -20 mins, so if you boost to far, you don't even have enough battery to get it back...just my thought.... I did range boost for phantom 2 + though...

As you might have red in my posting above I didnt do any range test - but I have much better signal in areas where before I got a connection warning. The Inspire can sure fly 9000ft without any mod but such a part helps for stability.

In 18 min the Inspire can fly at least 25.000ft not using top speed to get out longest flight time.

Granted, but it just seems to me that pointing the reflectors towards the ground (even though slightly) and not towards the sky where your quad is is counter-intuitive.

I flew a mile out and back and screwed around for a few minutes and still have 50 percent left to play with no loss.  Impressive,     I don't know that I want to fly it much farther than that.

Just wanted to get back after getting the range booster went back to the water to see how far I could go. Normally I would get RC weak signal from 4800 ft to losing it at 5200. I was able to get to 6975ft today, not bad but expected a bit more.

Good deal. I'm really happy with the purchase.

Took a second flight with the Range Booster today and am really impressed with its range, did not push it beyond 13627 ft...Wow, think could have gotten farther but was chasing a barge and decided to take a few shots.
