Hey Guys,
This is a compilation of footage from my first week of flying the DJI NEO. Everything was shot in 4K at 30fps. All the clips where the NEO is following my wife or myself were shot in full auto using the default "Follow" mode. The other clips were shot with manual camera settings while piloting with the RC 2 remote.
I did not use ND or other filters while capturing footage.
The video was edited on a Mac using Final Cut Pro. No LUTs where applied to the footage however minor exposure and/or colour corrections were done to some of the clips. All the footage was kept as close to "as shot" as possible to demonstrate the capabilities and limitations of the camera system.
Overall, I thought the footage looked pretty decent, especially in good light and also considering the price point. Video quality falls apart pretty quicky in low-light though.
I was also thoroughly impressed with how well the NEO managed to follow me through some pretty tight singletrack with plenty of hazrds. Even at the end of the video a collision with a tree branch did not take the NEO out. It stayed in the air, kept shooting and hovered in place until I ran back to get it to follow me again (not shown).
Thanks for watching, cheers!

All the clips where the NEO is following my wife or myself were shot in full auto using the default “Follow” mode. Clips without someone in the frame were shot manually using the DJI RC 2 controller. Very few of the shots were in bright, sunny conditions. Most clips were taken during overcast days or near sunset. That’s not what I preferred, it’s more of a timing thing and weather conditions. I did not use ND or other filters while capturing footage. The video was edited on a Mac using Final Cut Pro X. No LUTs were applied to the footage however minor exposure and/or colour corrections were to some of the clips. All the footage was kept as close to “as shot” as possible to show what the drone is capable of capturing without adjustment.

In good light it does a decent job, I'm happy with it. In low light the video quality starts to fall apart quickly. Night stuff, don't even think about it - haha!

Yeah, it seems the Neo needs to stay in the hangar on very low light or night conditions.
Nope. Knock on wood, I've hit a few branches and even had it knocked out of the air at least once and not a scratch on it. It's so light, I feel like it is going to be hard to damage it.

The Mini 4 Pro and Avata 2 are far superior drones to the NEO. Unless there is a specific problem you're trying to solve or a particular feature the NEO gives you that you don't have, I can't see why it would be worth it.
Of course though, sometimes you just want what you want - haha! Cheers!

Yea lol, I was just thinking to get a drone i could fly in manual mode to practice with since I fly my avata 2 like a little girl , potentially neo could help my issues, and I could use it to track me biking potentially. It would also be more worth it since I have a rc 2 and goggles 3 plus fpv rc 3.

Haha! Yeah, I have wanted to get in to FPV for a while but was worried about trying it with the more expensive DJI FPV and Avata models. The NEO, I think, is a more reasonable place to start. Even better if you have all the goggles and stuff.
Just be aware, according to the NEO FAQs, it has a max tracking speed of 6 m/s or 21.6 km/h. Of course, that's going to be perfect conditions, so your mileage may vary. :-)

hmm ok, I read on other forums you cant activate it? I have a rc 2 if I could activate it with that, but others keep saying they have issues activating. did you experience any?

I am using my NEO with the RC 2 but I activated it with my iPhone. I feel like you should be able to activate it with an RC2 - it IS running the DJI Fly app after all. I didn't activate it with my RC 2 because I got too impatient waiting for a firmware update to download.
I did have problems activating with my phone though. I kept getting sever errors, which I expect were happening on DJI's side. I kept trying over about a 30 minute period and it eventually worked just fine.

great video, curious, how did you fly so low to the ground on the bridge?? it seems that i couldn't get lower than around 40cm or it would land.....
Thanks. I was flying with the DJI RC 2 controller at the time and I didn't do anything special. I just took it in low because I thought it would be a cool looking shot, especially because the bridge surface is wood. Maybe it's not as low as it appears to be?
