I have been flying my P3A for almost 6 months and it was working perfectly until I have fly it with an ipad mini 4, which comes with ios9 today! Everything started normally and up to about 2 mins of flight time, It just fall off from the sky suddenly and went directly into the sea!! It was in very open area about 100m above the sea, so I dont think anything could have hit it. I could see it when it fall into the water and all the aircraft light were on, so i dont think that is a battery problem..

Could it be one of the IOS 9 issues ??

I have attached the flight log here, could someone please take a look into it and see what may be the cause of this??

Looking at the logs CSV and Health Drones a few things are apparent,

GPS Dropped from 14 to 8 satellites, at the same time there was a voltage drop of over 1.2v on the battery,  battery cell 1 dropped.

More interestingly your battery temperature reached 103.9F, thats max operation temperature.

You then had compass errors but that may have been from it spiralling down,


My Opinion is you either had a birdstrike, Prop loss or a battery failure

Edit looking at your vid i say possible bird or prop loss, i can see power in the arms LED's, id bet prop

You need to speak to DJI but they generally don’t cover you unless they can inspect the drone


I hate to say it but flying over water at night is a huge risk and is asking for problems

I have a P3A and it was the original one that comes with the 2312 Motors. As I really like the new design and the 7% more efficent on the new 2312E motors, I've tried to replace my P3 motor with 2312e 800Kv and 2312E 960Kv motors .

With 2312E 800KV motors and firmware 1.32, my P3 does not fly as stable as the original 2312 960Kv motor, it feels like it's almost trying to  tip over and feels like the air braking is not working either, the fly performance is pretty bad. I think the firmware is not optimized for this motor.

Probably not, I have been flying with that happily for more then a month.

Do you know whether the new P3A comes with the new motors now?? cause i needed to get another one now..

I was not expecting motor failure as its rare but as it has been touched then that would explain it, I said prop as was not thinking motor.

One Note: I think  the operating temperature range for the phantom and the actual temperature that the battery might be during flight are two different things.  My battery temperature during a typical flight on a 85 to 90 degree day is always around 50 degrees centigrade (about 122 degrees Fahrenheit).   I searched all over until I I got this answer myself as I was worried about the distinction.
