Hello,

I had a critical incident right after switching to Manual mode: there was a sudden loss of power despite I didn't touch the power throttle of my RC3.
Maybe it is relevant to note that the switch to Manual mode was done above water.

By chance my wife took a video of the switch and I tried to synchronize goggle view with external view.

Any idea what could be the reason?

The drone dived/lost 2 meters (7 feet)...
I feel fortunate that I was high enough so I had time to save the drone from having a bath

Hi there,

We are sorry to hear about what happened with the aircraft. Could you please confirm if the aircraft crashed after the event? If it did, please return the device for further diagnosis.

If it did not crash, could you please update the aircraft's firmware and let us know if the issue persists?

Dear Natalia,

Thank you for your reply.
I doubt there is any need to repair the aircraft. From a hardware point of view it works very well.
In this case I suspect a software issue due to the ground being "water" and disturbing some sensors because of the reflectivity of the water..?
I am happy to extract and share any technical files, but I will not send my device for repair (yet).

With kind regards

Hi. You're based in Belgium according to your profile. So the Avata should be in CE mode. In CE countries according to its C1 classification the power is limited in M mode. This loss in Power is not compensated by the calculation DJI does to let you align the sticks. At least this is my assumption. See or . In the video you see how in CE mode the power is limited and how the drone behaves when you switch to M mode and align the sticks. This is totally different in FCC mode.

Hi Hawkins2000,
Thank you so much for your reply.
I don't understand German but I got your point ... in CE mode, the power must be more to keep the drone at the same altitude/attitude than in FCC.
I used to fly in Saudi Arabia and just moved to Belgium ... from FCC to CE indeed...
So that means that when switching to manual, the drone also switch from FCC to CE (at that exact time, right?) and I must compensate at that exact time with more power to avoid such power loss.
Did I get it right?
Thank you again for your help.
Kind regards

no, the drone is always in CE mode, but in N/S mode it compensates for itself to keep height, in manual it does not, hence the drop with "to low power".

just put the ham file on your goggle sd card, power up goggles before drone and you have your drone in FCC mode all the time ;)
I live in the netherlands and have the ham file on there, i only flew manual 2 time so far, but did not experience that drop.

Dear Natalia,

Thank you for your reply.

Hi there, thank you for your response. If you encounter any sensor errors or abnormal performance, it is best to send back the aircraft for damage assesment so our engineering team can provide you with an accurate resolution after we review the details. Rest assured that we're committed to providing the best experience for our users.

Please keep us posted. Thank you for understanding.
