They do create an excellent orbit.

I tried them for the first time.
This one worked the best, although I would like to be able to set the amount of circles and speed.

Knowing the way DJI operates that function will be much improved with more controls on the Mini 5 Pro.  They are always looking for a "hook" to get you to upgrade and spend more money for the next, best thing.

Lately, I've only been updating every other release.  The Mini 3 pro and the Air 3 really have been great drones for me and do everything I need and then some.  The only other drone I'd like to have is an FPV but I tried a cinewhoop and I got to dizzy to fly it.  I even tried sitting down but that didn't help.

Mavic Pro, Mini 2, Mini 3 Pro (just before the 4 was released)
I'm probably not going for the 4 and will have to see what the 5 brings.
If it's something special like a 2nd (tele) camera, I'll be tempted to jump on the 5 Pro early, otherwise, I'll probably wait for the discounts to start arriving because the 3 is all I need right now.

It's good that you are not giving in to the desire to update every new release like many people do.  The dual camera on the Air 3 was a selling point for me.  I didn't upgrade to the Air 3S but it would have been nice if DJI added night vision to the Air 3 like is on the Air 3S.  Like you I'm waiting to see what the Mini 5 Pro brings to market.  I have no desire to even consider the Flip as I think their will be issues with the folding joints and I really think the design is ugly.

So that adds up too. (having to renew that every 5 years)

249G and below drones are the best way to go for sure, except for very windy days and then I break out the more powerful Air 3.  I have my part 107 and the certificate is permanent, but I must maintain currency by updating my aeronautical knowledge every 24 calendar months.
