People I know that own Barettas either loved them or hated them and got rid of them. Usually they are more expensive than other brands, they tend to be heavier and have had slide failures (which is why the US Army qjuit buying them), the safeties are bigger which is good in a way but can also get caught up in your clothes when pulling it out if concealed carry or on items coming out of a purse.
The Sig Sauer is a more accurate firearm. It isn't unusual for a SIG P226 to place five shots into 1.5 inches at 25 yards with premium ammunition. The Beretta may be counted on for 2.5 inches. The Sig has better engineering, has a very nice standard trigger and better sights out of the box. It has slightly bigger magazine capacity as a standard purchase. It's easier to train novice shooters on and so much easier to field strip and clean.
The real reason I started buying Sig Sauer over Baretta and Smith & Wesson is that the SIG Sauer P226 is carried by the Navy Seals. If it is rugged enough and accurate enough for them it will fit my needs. |
