DJI NEO - Best beginner/kid friendly drone

Nice find DA.  Aldryn does point out some pluses for the Neo but to go full "kit" you are almost up to the price of a bigger and better drone, the Avata 2.

They do really upsell this drone dont they,  especially if you want the better Goggles 3 over the budget N3.

The drone alone is a real bargain but if you want to use it as an FPV drone you definitely get upsold.  If I could fly FPV I'd go with the Avata 2.  I passed my annual physical with flying colors today.  so I'm a happy camper.  

It is definitely the best drone for learning how to fly.

Im pretty sure if they released the Neo before the Avata I would have got one.

Fortunately, you got the Avata 2 as it is much more capable, better motors, better camera, etc.

Yes and it was a good place to learn and practice manual flying with the brake button,   Im leaning towards an O4 version of the Flywoo Explorer when/if it gets released,   its really good value.

I've seen several positive comments on the Flywoo Explorer on the FPVdrone forum.  No rumors yet when an O4 version will be released that I've seen but no doubt they are coming.  Now that I think about it isn't the flywoo Explorer one of Depp's drones?

Last rumour for the O4 was January 12th release date,  then the frame makers sill need to update.

Yes,  Depp has one of the Flywoo's,  the other option is something from Nazgul and although Im tempted to go bigger,   this seems like a sweet spot for price,    and if I go bigger later the battery and O4 system could transfer.   Its shocking how cheap things like the batteries are,    the big one for this drone which can go down to 1% without damage is £36 here and should give 30+ mins of flight time,  compared to the Avata that does 5-7 mins.

Yeah that's a huge difference in price and flight time.  It will be interesting to see which way you decide to go.

Im 99% sure the plan will be an O4 air unit plus suitable FPV frame,  and then the Mini 5 assuming it does launch as we hope.  

My biggest concern with going the air unit route is the landing,    Ibve tried manual landing and its not pretty for me yet,   and at least with the avata  I worry about slamming the bottom sensors into something.     Im hoping when the frames start getting updated for O4 they include beta flight 4.6 which will allow for gps assist mode so landing it will be like a dji drone.

       I saw on a reddit thread where one guy says he only uses snatching it out of the air for landing. Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.
