Hi everybody,

Quick question on the I1.

Everytime I descend a little to quick I notice that the inspire kind of stutters and makes quick adjustments to keep steady in the air.

It does it everytime I try to descend quickly.
Also, this is on normal non windy days.

Is this normal?

Should I descend more slowly or is this nothing to worry about.

I get freaked out cuz I think its going to loose control or something and fall out of the sky.

Please let me know.

Thanks

It is normal. It is just the FC trying to keep up with the quick movements, and adjusting to the prop wash you are descending into.

Yeah I have the same thing, it's better for it to stutter than crash like older Phantoms did.

From your description, this is known as "settling under power" or "Vortex Ring State".

Great info. Did some more research on VRS and will from now on be very careful on my descents. Thanks for the info.

The first time I saw a quad do this, it was a bit of a brown-trouser moment.

LOL.

Yeah, I really did not feel right with that happening.

So good thing I did some research on it based on your comments.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Really learned something important.

I usually descend from altitude from distance with a good amount of forward velocity to avoid any VRS issues.
Where VLoS or encumbrances make this difficult, then a tight vertical spiral down does the trick.
Anything to keep some forward motion during the descent phase.

As with Paul, early experiences with a toy quad (syma x5-c) were enlightening.
