For commercial/hobiests...drone flyers. You will be required to register your drone next month. FAA is putting this into place and further information will be released in a couple of weeks. Yippi!!.....

Totally bogus. Stop trying to scare people. The FAA is not ready and has clearly stated they will likely not act on any UAV regulations yet, and not likely until 2017. What a state does is irrelevant to the feds.

So all the news outlets are wrong?

Many news agencies are reporting this.

The better question is what's YOUR point?

There is something in the pipeline for Monday. We will have to  see what it is exactly.  I doubt Sling Shot has any knowledge of what the FAA is going to say on Monday , but expect  things to change. People are acting dumb with these UAS devices  and someone is going to get hurt.

This is what came up a few days ago mainly the DOT.....I wouldn't post anything that's "bogus" so I'm sorry if I pushed the wrong buttons with some of you guys out there. I too have invested a lot of money, time and research into this hobby. We are all in the same boat. This info came out on the local news here...

Maybe this has been mentioned before, but what impact would a P3 have on the blade of a news copter? It seems heli blades are designed to take bird strikes etc and the phantom is pretty light.....I can see possibly an octo copter...but...a phantom is very little mass....

This story link does not say anything about the lie in original poster put up.  NO REGISTRATION yet.  It is coming but so what?  You register your car, boat, etc. why not the quad?  Or some crazy can put a gun on it and claim it is protected by the 2nd amendment.

PS. Don't waste time priming your smart batteries.  DJI doesn't not recommend you do this.

I would think its more of something getting sucked into an engine. Remember the Hudson river landing? that was the result of multiple bird strikes and loss of  its engines. luckily the pilot knew what he was doing.  As long as we stick to the RC regulations that are already in place we should be fine. A  UAS does not need to be 1000ft in the air or following your car as you ride down a residential road.
