Hello, Guys just purchased a brand new DJI Phantom 3 Advanced with the new motors.
Flew it around 15 minutes yesterday today I noticed this stress crack by my motor.
Amazon is sending me new replacement unit any ideas how to prevent this from happening in the future.
The stress cracks I've only seen have been on the underside.
You could try UAV bits strongarm reinforcement plates. After debating it myself I decided to put them on, did the test flights and a full 20 min flight with them on last weekend with no problems.
Got got mine from http://carolinadronz.com/product ... for-phantom-3-units
Although you will have to pay £3 something VAT and £8 to Royalmail to royally rip you off before they will post it through your letterbox.

that's why I wont buy them even tho I want them .... this country is one big rip off when it comes to getting stuff from the states ... if something is 300 dollars then its 300 pounds over here ???????????????
You flew once for 15 minutes, no hard landings or tip over at landing.
No Crash.
And you did not install the prop protectors.
Are these the circumstances?
I am not doubting you I just want to be clear. Because many of us here including me have dozens and hundreds of flights w/o cracks. Personally I have a 3 week old P3P with 55 flights totaling about 5 hrs air time and no cracks. Some in very windy conditions and pretty hard flying.
Stress cracks occur on the bottom of the shell, not the top. The motors are mounted to the bottom shell (4 screws in a square), and the power torque more than likely puts too much stress on the mounting pillars and surrounding area. Of course, if it fell, all bets are off.
Oh damn very unusual place for stress cracks.. I got the old version and it developed under the motor in one of two screws before the four of the motor
