Hi guys and gals. I hope you can help. I have a GoPro case that's for a phantom 1 or 2 that I cut up to fit my p3a. I don't like the way it fits so I'm thinking of either (1) getting some new pick and pluck foam and redo it or (2) get a new hard case. But what is the best carry on case to get? I value you guys and gals opinions and hoping to hear them. Thanks in advanced!

HI AK Eagle,

I have had a number of cases, hard and soft.

I started with a GoProfessional case for my phantom 1 which was perfect - fully waterproof and i even swam with it for about 200m through the ocean to get to an island whilst on holiday. The case was however a bit bulkier (albeit smaller than the current Goprofessional for P3) and it was a hassle when lugging around on holiday (no problem with airport security though). The goproffessional case was also a bit larger than some of the other cases so it aloud me to carry a few more item which i thought i needed back then such as prop balancer and room for gopro gear.

After 2 years of droning though i now find myself trying to reduce the carry bag as much as possible to just what is required. For this reason and also aesthetics i went for the DJI hard shell, everything fits perfect into the smallest possible footprint, the bag is surprisingly small and also a well constructed backpack. I have tried the cheap Asian soft backpack and honestly you get what you pay for. The hard shell is rugged enough to prevent damage to the drone in travel situations aesthetically appealing and semi waterproof.

Basically it depends on what you are after. If you are after something that offers the ultimate protection but don't mind lugging large cases around with you then go the Goprofessional hard case, if you are after practicality and ease of use and travel whilst still offering good protection then i would go the DJI hard shell. Pricing also comes into it with the Goprofessional cases's being more expensive than the DJI hard shell.

Hope that help anyway mate

All the best

Hi AK Eagle!

Pick and pluck foam tends to be less durable than foam withpre-cut cavities. I work for CasePro and we offer cases with high-density foamspecifically designed for the Phantom 3, so they offer better protection andsecurity than pick and pluck foam.  Thesecases can fit all three Phantom 3 models (standard, advanced, and pro) withouthaving to take the propellers off.

This is the carry-on one that you can take with you on anyairplane:http://www.casesbysource.com/pro ... d-case-cpe-phan3-co

It features our new RecoCell foam for added cushion andprotection. Like memory foam, RecoCell foam shapes itself around your Phantom3, creating an ultra-snug fit without damaging the drone at all.

Our carry on size also comes without RecoCell foam here:http://www.casesbysource.com/pro ... rd-case-cp-phan3-co

If you want a wheeled case for ease of movement, we offerthat here: http://www.casesbysource.com/pro ... ard-case-cp-phan3-w

The wheeled version can be checked into the baggagecompartment of a plane, but don't worry! The heavy-duty exterior and highdensity foam interior will keep your Phantom 3 protected no matter how roughlyit is handled.

You can also customize the foam interiors on these cases tocustom-fit any other accessories you want to carry in the case as well. No needto cut through foam that isn't right for you! Just click the orange "AddCustom Foam" button on the pages above and use our online customizationtool to build a foam interior that is perfect for your needs.

All three cases I linked above are waterproof, in additionto many other features you can see on the pages above.
