I don't understand this focus peaking thingy stuff in relation to the X5.

What settings have to be in place to use it? Can it only be used when in autofocus or can it be used in manual mode? How do you access it in the app/buttons?

I wish DJI would provide a manual when they introduce new products, instead of users fumbling trying to figure out how to use them.

Hey man, if you have nothing better to do than complain, please trash your DJI gear and find another manufacturer that makes you happy. This is a free market. We want constructive posts. If you have suggestions good. Otherwise, find hapiness doing something else.

Focus peaking is an advanced feature that helps obtain sharper focus.

It is by default 'off' (the reason for this should be self evident after you use the feature a little)

To activate it: Go to 'General Settings' where you will find 'Focus Peaking' - 'None'

Scroll this to '90%' if there is subject has very high contrast borders e.g. a building set in the background of clear sky and lower if the separation in contrast between the edges of interest and the background is murkier. Think of this as a threshold control that raises or lowers the criterion of the focus detector.

You will need to be in Manual Focus mode AND in Photo (not video) mode  to activate the feature

When the feature is on, you'll see red lines outlining the edge(s) of the subject if you are in focus but not when you are out of it. So the more red edges you see, the sharper your focus; adjust until focus 'peaks'
With Go 2.4.1 - there is an additional focus aid - automatic digital zoom to the centre of the the are of interest.

Its something that was designed for broadcast camera's years back.
In layman terms it applies sharpening to the edges of objects and then ads colour to the edges as they peak to make it obvious what is in focus.......
In broadcast camera's it ads lots of sharpening that rolls off really quick as the object gets defocused... (Pretty much all Broadcast camera's have Black and white viewfinders, because colour is rarely reproduced accurately, and tends to trick cameramen into bad settings on the camera thing to correct in camera....... Luminance is the only important thing in Camera Viewfinders, for focus and exposure..... colour etc is dealt with in post....
