Hello,
Previously I posted that I couldn't get my Phantom 3 to accept a firmware update. That one was returned, and after opening my new one I realized that it was definitely one that someone else had already used and returned before me.

The good news is that the new one seems to be working out so far. I got the firmware updated and right now I'm just charging up the device before I head out to a field.

Wish me luck, I'll post pictures as soon as I get some!

It was getting dark and it was pretty windy, but my first flight went well!

I really just hovered around a bit. The wind knocked the drone around, but it's really impressive how still they can still manage to stay. Here's my first photo. Incredible that that is a half second exposure...

Please complete a cold IMU calibration, Gimbal calibration  and eventually outdoors a Compass calibration.

Enjoy your new bird, and time in the forum.

Don't worry. That's exactly what I did before the first flight.

That's great to know. I Just wanted to be sure that you are taking care of your new bird. ;-)

Any other tips?

Also, I have read around that I should enable "multiple flight modes". From the description it sounds like all this does is let me use the toggle switch to change between modes, so I'm unsure of why I'd need this.

Interested in doing a soft breakin of your intelligent flight battery?
Only fly down to 50% charge. Do that for the first ten flights.
Then after 20 full charges, bring the battery down to around 8%.
Then charge back to 100%. The app shows you the number of charge times.

Wouldn't that be done when the batteries are made? I work at a battery plant and all our cells go through a similar charge/discharge cycle.

No, it's completely up to you, how you break them in.
