Hi,

I have an Inspire 1, and after more than 100hrs flying, still very satisfied with it. She is a good working "man".

Is anybody know that I can attach a Zenmuse X5 or X5R to the Inspire 1?

Also, I am planning to buy an OSMO kit as well.

So.

Can is just replace the Inspire 1 original Zenmuse X3 camera to X5 OR X5R
AND then
use the X3 for the OSMO Handle Kit? (this one: http://store.dji.com/product/osmo-handle-kit )


Thanks for your help DJI guys in advance, I am a little bit confused....

So there is no X5R yet and no delivery date but from what I've gathered

1. You can replace the camera mounting plate to hold an X5.  It will require you modifying your case insert to fit once done though.

2. An Inspire 1 is upgradeable to use the X5 with the plate mentioned above

3. The Osmo will soon run with your Inspire X3 camera once the new firmware is available.  I ordered my Osmo without a camera and am still waiting for the shipment (said to be end of December by DJI) but expect the firmware will release when they ship.

Once you change the plate for your X5, it is stated that the X3 camera can still function if desired.  Wonder if that changes the center of gravity to the extent it changes flight characteristics?  


I did hear that the Oslo camera will NOT work on an aircraft so good to consider that

So my plan is to buy an X5 or X5R, AND an OSMO Handle Kit, mentioned in my first post.

Using this config I can fly and film w X3 OR X5 AND using my X3 in OSMO.
Cool.

Regarding the change of centre of gravity I can say that it doesn't change because the original and X5 mounting plate have the connector in the same place. The X5 camera attaches at the same location as the X3 but the X5 actually swivels further back (so the X5 is held on further back, presumably because of the extra weight of the lens etc. and the fact it's longer). Like this:
