Rich, it is the media stirring up the pot. Indeed, the hobby had doubled and it isn't slowing down.

Yes, I do believe its a threat. But hell, a gun is a threat. A bird in the sky is a threat. So I do believe its getting blown way out of proportion.

Agree, but this is really troubling news and people that do not understand can make all of us suffer ..

I own a gun and know how to use it... same with a drone UAV

Don't feel bad. Haven't flown for while due to the weather. I fly now using my flight sim 7.5. And that's now fun either.

They do that to get UAVs into the news as being bad. CA is one of the best at doing it.

So just go fly and enjoy it. Where? I don't know, right now it seems everything is off limits and I really don't know how

Thanks, I see the FAA ruling came out the next day or so after this stupid listing on Bing....  Liberal media and now see what happened.... plays right into the hands of the bureaucrats for easy target and more regulations

Bunch of crap! Enforcing is going to be one hell of a ride for the FAA. Unless the individual crashes into something. But seriously this is truly, truly ridiculous! I am now forced as a hobbyist to pay a fee or else! R/C cars will be next.

No, currently I do not have the 333. I am a retired fixed / helicopter / Chief pilot CFI.... But I really am not supporting the need for a licensed pilot to fly the UAV.  This is over the top to me. Maybe, training and pass some tests showing your skill and knowledge would do the trick.

I can tell you for certain that I won't register. I fly on my land, that I own and has been in our family for generations. I don't need the FAA telling me what to do on my land either. We can thank all the dumb a@#$ out there who did stupid things.

But the thing is, do you think the idiots are going to follow the rules. No! just like guns. We good guys follow the rules but the thugs keep on shooting. How this ruling will help? It won't. And if the FAA post your details to the public? That is a question I would like to know for certain. What about a 16 year old kid that registers. That would be a violation right there. We should at all cost protect the children. Registering would be like registering weapons and making it public. It's no body's business. I made some typo's but in a rush.
