I haven't been able to fly recently because of the winter weather and it doesn't look like its going to get better anytime soon.

I always charge my batteries up to 50% after I've been out and have been using them on a regular basis, but it looks like it could be a couple of months till I can use them again.

What is the best thing to do with them, I checked their charge a couple of weeks ago and I still had two lights on each, if they have self discharged below 50% next time I check, is it best to keep on topping them up to 50%?

I understand that  they will enter hibernation mode at some point, is it best to leave them in this state until I wish to use them again?

I'm worried they will self discharge below a % which they can't be revived from. I have 5 x TB48's and 1 x TB47 which is a lot of money to lose if they die on me.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Thanks for the responses but they haven't reallly helped.
I'm particularly interested in topping up versus hibernation and whether they will become unusable at some point if I don't manage their charge %

Thanks

Sorry, Tony. Let me see if I can offer a little clarity.

Thanks Paul for the detailed response, very helpful.

My concern about how far a battery will self discharge is because one of the TB48's I bought was at 7% when I received it, all the other batteries were around 50% when received, I presumed it had been on a shelf somewhere for a while self discharging.

If anyone else ( especially from DJI ) has some advice, I would be very interested, thanks.

You can actually check the battery history to find out if it has entered self-discharge mode.

How ...

I've checked all of the batteries here are the readings:

1 TB47 39% 3.68v
2 TB48 39% 3.73v
3 TB48 39% 3.72v
4 TB48 39% 3.72v
5 TB48 39% 3.74v
6 TB48 39% 3.73v

Would you top them up to 60% or leave them?
The DJI Intelligent Flight Battery Safety Guidelines document recommends 30%-50% for long term storage, but understand that DJI documents can be different to real world experience.

As I said when I stored them they were all on 50%, so presume their charge will keep on going down. Do they act any different to a camera, laptop or cordless drill battery which all lose charge when their not used.

Thanks

Here's an old joke...

"ex" means "has been" and a "spurt" is a drip, under pressure.

well, as Paul already said,  you have to keep your batteries at around 60 % of charge
