Amazing landscapes and beautiful smooth flying. Also quality of the final footage is very high, whic ...

Hey, thanks again everyone for the overwhelmingly positive response.  I'll try to answer a few questions in one go.

We almost always shoot with a pilot and a camera operator, allowing for more dynamic camera movements.  The camera operator is also able to identify things that are visually interesting and communicate them in real time to the pilot, as the pilot is basically only looking at the craft while the operator is concentrating on the image.  We shoot 4K mp4s.  If your computer has the editing power, it's not a bad idea to shoot 4K even if you are finishing at 1080.

We generally shoot 23.98, but if the weather is choppy we sometimes go to 29.97 and conform to 23.98 later, smoothing the shots out a little bit by shooting slightly slow-motion.  We edit in premiere and never transcode to ProRes.  It's just not necessary for another codec to be involved unless you are editing in an old system like FCP7.

Nice work guys! Figured it was a two man operation with the smooth pans. What firmware are you using seeing many have complained about the latest version.

Love the Mexico video! Also, shot 1:20 shows off one thing a Phantom can never do, and that's shoot Up!

Beautiful work. Did you use manual settings on the camera and fly without mission planning software? Terrific job either way and very beautiful and vivid images. Thanks.

Wohaaaa, thats really top notch work there! A filmic eye and good piloting skills
Probably at the very edge of what the X5 can produce in quality.

Inspiring indeed!

keep it up

Dear Flightgeist,

I just saw your film 'Road Trip New Mexico' and thought it was great! I wondered if you had considered entering it into the London Drone Film Festival, submissions end on April 20th so you still have time to enter.

Best Regards

Happy New Year for 2016!!!!With my X5, Osmo and RONIN

There are some really good shots in this video. Good job!
I have a question, I am starting to test the X5R, on the raw footage, and I have noticed some dropped frames on some of my clips.
You have couple of those as well in this video. Is there anything you can share about those?

Thanks
Brice

Some of you asked about flight time difference between an Inspire V2 flying with the X5 camera vs the X3 camera.  From my experience with the two, using TB48 batteries, my flight time went from about 19-20 minutes down to 15-16 minutes.
