I have been trying to update the firmware on my P3A without success.  I have downloaded all versions and started with v1.3.20.  When I piwer on the copter the gimbal light blinks green for about 5 seconds then goes to steady green and stays there.  It does create the additional folders on an empty SD Card but never updates or creates a .txt file.

Any Ideas?

I'm having the exact same problem.

I have P3A with v1.4.10. The RC has upgraded to latest v1.5.70 without any issues. App is also latest v2.4.3

I have formatted several SD cards and copied the .bin file to root without any success. Light stays green. It does not create .txt file either.

Any suggestions???

If you are accustom to going to the Support Link for firmware downloads -- with the new website, you may have downloaded the P3 Pro firmware instead of the P3 Adv firmware...
Make sure you go here for the download:
http://www.dji.com/product/phantom-3-adv/info#downloads

With the new website you need to go to Products and select the Advanced P3 and then select Downloads.
Support now takes you to the P3 Pro downloads

Recall that the P3 Pro firmware is P3X_FW_V01.05.0030.bin while your firmware should be
P3S_FW_V01.05.0030.bin.....

Same for me too using the P3S_FW_V01.05.0030 file but I finally read the tutorial and relised I had the .bin file still in the folder on the card.  Now that the .bin file is in the root directory the update is progressing with the LED above the camera flashing slowly red / green plus the 4 tones.

Thanks for the heads-up! The DJI website takes you to the P3 Pro and I was trying to upgrade using the wrong firmware.

I correctly downloaded the P3 Advance firmware and it's now upgrading correctly.

Then the app would not get passed the tapping of the camera button. It would just crash. I deleted the app and re downloaded it and all is updated and fine.
