I'm flying a Phanton 3 Pro looking for cliff dwellings outside Sedona, AZ. Once located I want to be able to note the GPS coordinate and discovered the app doesn't give me that. Does any one know how to get the GPS coordinate?

If you take a photograph of the place of interest the GPS location will be in the EXIF data of the picture, programs like Picasa can display that information in Google Earth.

It's in the .srt files

Right click/Subtitle/Sub Track/Track 1


This will vary on different players and if you cant find it in yours try the free vlc player (videolan.org I think) its awesome.
Also, the .mp4 and the corresponding .srt files need to have the same name and be in the same folder.

Then with each video, you will also get subtitle files with telemetry info for every second of your video.
The srt file is a text file and can be played as subtitles in video players that support subtitles like VLC, or you can open the srt file with a text editor and look at the contents which include:

Couldn't be more detailed as terry told . That's exactly how you'll find it !

Yea, the drones could give us this information in real time (all it would take is a simple firmware upgrade from DJI), which would obviously be very useful for finding a downed drone or SAR. However for some reason (which DJI haven't answered yet), they won't allow us to have this information.

The bad language is not appreciated on this forum, but in any event you are completely wrong. The still photos have EXIF data as mentioned here which contains the GPS co-ordinates that the photo was taken, and the video information can also contain the location data if you enable sub-titles in your player. The data is contained in a separate file on the SD card with the file extension .SRT

Have a look at the flight record that is generated using latest DJI Go App', the GPS co-ordinates are recorded there in real time.

Geebax, You are easily offended. I think what you refer to as bad language is great for illustrating emphasis. I don't think you can speak for the whole forum community can you.
Look, I stand by what I said. Im pretty sure DJI could easily put these coordinates up on the HUD somewhere without too much difficulty. And I know Im not the only one who wants this.

Thanks Aardvark, This is what I will do. But I need to see the coordinates while the drone is in the sky. I don't know if I would be to keen to exit the HUD while the drone is in the air. But cheers for that, I'll look into it.

Actually I am not easily offended, not in the least. But use of the f word does nothing more than brand you as someone who is unable to makle a point without it. The Chinese people who maintain this board on the other hand, are less forgiving about use of bad language.

hey, Could you explain how to do this in more detail, step by step I do not know how to use phanton properly

Open your DJI Go app, click the icon in the upper left corner.  Open up your flight list and select the desired flight by location and date.
You will see a satellite view of your flight which you can replay, the GPS coordinates are displayed in the lower left.

I made a video and a document about how to get the GPS coordinates from DJI GO while in flight. It's a bit cumbersome, but works without landing.

Guess this would be of no use for us plus owners, would be preferred if DJI could make a toggle to have the coordinates displayed during flight just as the battery cell info can be toggled.
In S&R operations among other tasks the GPS coordinates for sure would be helpful.
