Notes
1.           The Inspire 1 Zenmuse X3 gimbal and camera must beupdated to firmware v1.5.0.30 on the Inspire 1 aircraft before using thisfirmware update on the Osmo handle. 

2.           If the Inspire 1 Zenmuse X3 gimbal and cameraenters protection mode, you will need to power cycle the Osmo to reactivate it.

3.           The Inspire 1 Zenmuse X3 gimbal and camera does notsupport Sleep Mode. 

4.           Gimbal drift can be minimized using the autocalibration function. 

5.           If the firmware upgrade fails, restart the Osmo andDJI GO app to and re-attempt the upgrade. 

6.           After performing the firmware update, it isrecommended to perform an auto calibration for the gimbal.

- Ok, first update attempt did not work (loaded the file to the µSD card root and started the Osmo, blinked and after a few minutes ended with D - D - D beeps)
- After restarting Osmo and connecting the App the App told be about the new download. Then all over sudden the Osmo replied with D - DD - D - DD beeps and everything was fine
- Lost the LiveView image which never happened before?! After restart of Osmo and App worked fine again.
- Setting Mic Loudness works
- Recording 4K in 4096 x 2160 resolution now seems to work fine
- Locking the Gimbal in TimeLapse seems to work fine. I will perform more outdoor tests soon
- Even though not mentined in the release note I found the WiFi connection of Osmo to be much more reliable than before?! Before I had to switch on / off Osmo for about three times before I was able to connect, now it works with the first attempt.

=> Looks good so far. More testing required - let´s go Osmo community...

my update notice came through the DJI GO app when I started up the OSMO. I clicked on it and it started the download then the update process. I didn't have any problems. I didn't have to load anything onto a chip either. The update was automatic which I'm thankful for and checked the about on the app and all looks good. Can anyone else confirm the same results:

I tried to go back to the old firmware and that failed as well. Now the OSMOS doesn't work at all. I don't see an osmo wifi anymore either. If I try and redo the new firmware, it ends in one red light and a continuous beep.

Brand new out of the box Christmas present. Fire it up, says to upgrade so I perform the upgrade. No longer seeing video on my phone and wifi for the osmo turns off and on it seems.  (Sad face)

I have been told, If resetting the wifi does not fix it, then right now there is not work around

reset the OSMO and try again.  Key combination: Hold down the Trigger and Shutter Button at the same time. Then, pull the power switch down until the System Status Indicator blinks green. Release the power button before releasing the Trigger.

Here is the recommendation.  Remove your SD card and format it in Fat32.  Do a clean download of the bin file and copy it to the root drive of the SD card.  Power cycle the OSMO without the card.  Then with the OSMO off, insert the card and turn on the power.  See if the installation completes.  If not try and roll back the firmware to the prior version.  If that works then you can try the upgrade again.

Alright... excited and glad to hear the new firmware release..., but somehow, I need assurance and workaround if the upgrade failed, before I upgrade my Osmo...

Upgraded and WiFi won't stay connected for 1 second, and sometimes wifi connection won't even come up... just got my Osmo yesterday and was having fun until this update. Now I can't use it til DJI fix this issue... smh

RE Update to 1.4.1.80
Update worked fine for me.  
Updated from 1.0.1.19 and did it via the DJI GO app. (2.4.3) and IOS 9.2.
Biggest plus for me is the improvement in the microphone volume. I still need to experiment more but the internal mic is marginally better but with my Olympus ME52W external microphone attached to my lapel, it is a great improvement. Sometimes there is a crackling noise which I need to investigate further.
I only purchased my OSMO a week ago so I'm still learning about all the other  improvements

Hi, I have exactly the same problem - Updated via DJI Go Application - successful.  After that no wifi-connection. OSMO connects and disconnects repeatedly. Tried to do manual upgrade downloading the firmware file but no luck, update failed. Tried also older firmware but not working..

Whew - That was really annoying...

My upgrade said on the smartphone that it's stuck at 96% and therefore no connection to the camera possible.

Solution for me was to
a) Do the reset with "trigger+recording button+power switch"
b) not only get out of DJI-Go-App but really close it << important!
c) switch off the Osmo
d) start the regular logon-process as it used to be

And then finally I regained control.

I have to say that the bad feeling of losing such an expensive toy to a firmware-upgrade
is something the company DJI should take much more serious when firmware-updates are rolled out.

That rollercoaster of feelings ranging from fear, sadness and pure anger are not good for DJIs reputation - at all.
It would be a clever step to test those updates very well, with at least the tipical setups the customers use.

I have tried everything listed above multiple times and still get nothing.  The OSMO was already lackluster and now it doesn't work at all. Don't you test these updates on multiple products before releasing? What a catastrophe or are you playing some cruel joke on all your loyal customers who bought into this piece of useless camera equipment?

I did the firware update and have all the same problems. I have tried everything including roll back but nothing fixes the wi fi module disaster.
The Osmo actually still works ie it records video and stills and does the usual gimble stuff but no connection to the phone so yu cannot see what you are taking, also no access to settings.
I live in Australia and I suppose this means shipping it to China????####

Ok, I renamed the old 'wifi-problematic' firmware, and download the new one,and I noticed the newer fixed one is smaller size.

The older one is 33.8 MB zipped, 73.0 MB .bin uncompressed, dated Dec. 25th 2015 6:56 PM
while the NEW one is 32.77 MB zipped, 72.9 MB .bin uncompressed, dated Dec. 26th 2015 5:33 PM


Hope my post can help noticing the differences.

Maybe future models of the OSMO should have a 'reset' button to reset the device back to a basic and well-tested 'factory fresh' version of the firmware? That would get around the problem of people having to return their device and lose a couple of weeks of use.
