I am trying to transfer the .DAT files from my P3P using the following procedure:
a. Connect your aircraft (USB portat the tail) to a PC using the included USB cable. Turn on the RemoteController and the aircraft, then open the DJI GO app.
b. Click “Mode” icon to view the“Advanced Settings”.
c. Click “MC Enter Read FlightData Mode”.
d. After a few seconds, the DJIFlight Log disk will be detected by the PC and you will be able to access thedata.

The DJI Flight Log disk is not detected.  Also I get "MC Data Error"  and "Data Recorder Error" messages.

I have the P3P connected to a MacBook Pro.

Has anyone one else experienced this problem.  If so, how did you resolve it

Please confirm you are connecting the USB port on the aircraft . Could you please post a video or screenshot of those errors ?

I am connecting to the USB port on the front of the aircraft per the instructions I found on the forum.  Should I be connecting to the USB port on the gimbal as you state to retrieve the .dat files?  When I connect to the port on the gimbal I only see the picture and video files.

Sorry about my mistake , it's the port on the aircraft . Please follow the steps :
a. Connect your aircraft (USB port at the tail) to a PC using the included USB cable. Turn on the Remote Controller and the aircraft, then open the DJI GO app.
b. Click “Mode” icon to view the “Advanced Settings”.
c. Click “MC Enter Read Flight Data Mode”.
d. After a few seconds, the DJI Flight Log disk will be detected by the PC and you will be able to access the data.
If not successful , please confirm the aircraft hasn't been crashed .

I have followed this procedure multiple times.(except the USB port is on the front of my P3P). The battery is in the rear.   The result is the same.  I can not access the .Dat files.  I have never crashed my P3P.

I am currently  using a MacBook Pro, but have also tried with a iMac and a Windows based PC.  Are the files in a hidden folder?

The DJI Flight Logs (DAT files) are NOT hidden. In the GO App, when you enter Flight Data Mode, the P3 makes the 4GB SD Card on the bottom of the Main Controller (MC) Board and visible in the roof of the battery compartment, available as an external USB disk device. When in this mode, the camera reports with a beep-beep........beep-beep........beep-beep. If the PC/MAC doesn't see/recognize the device, then unplug the usb connector from the PC/MAC and then reinsert it for plug-n-play to recognize the device. The usb data should up as a disk with the name DJI FLY LOGS.

As Rebel stated, previous versions of the GO App would allow you to reformat this system disk. The latest GO App makes the dat log files read only and has removed the Format option.......

I actually had the problem before I updated the firmware.  I thought that the update might correct the problem, but it didn't.

DJI Support has determined that my P3P must be returned for repair.  A RMA has been issued and the P3P is on its way to the repair center in California
