This is a great question because I had the same one. Most of the answers I found by searching refers to the Phantom Pro or Advanced. However like me, the OP is referring to the Phantom Standard and the hardshell backpack, and the Standard has a different remote control configuration than the Pro or Advanced. Thus if it does not go into the case in the correct manner, its quite frustrating because you end up either chipping away at the foam because you put it in incorrectly, or you have to cut away to make it fit.
Also contrary to what the other guy says, this is not a piece of crap. It is a well thought out and very good case for someone just starting out in the hobby. The trick is to make sure the remote control is placed in the backpack exactly how it is done on the DJI website. The hardest part is folding mount properly. You should be able to see the spring in the mobile clamp, antennae should be pointed down and the gimbal control knob closest to you, just like on the DJI website.
I had a lot of trouble at first, just like the OP, and you can see from my picture that some of the foam has been chipped away from my previous incorrect attempts and the case never closed snugly. Once I figured the correct way to slide it in, I had not problems. The remote goes in correctly and the case closes with no issues. I almost returned the whole order because I couldnt understand why the remote wouldn't fit.
So just keep adjusting the mobile clamp buddy. You'll eventually come across the right way it fits and that will eliminate your problem.
