Hi,

Hope I can be of some Inspiration for those of you who fly in cold weather. Weather has been boring and bad here, either very cold or suddenly warm and windy, so my copters have been grounded. In order to do something else than grumble on the weather or eating Christmas leftovers, I figured I make a late Christmas present for my Inspire, a beanie

Happy New Year, everyone!

I made up a couple of hi-density foam covers held on with Velcro to help insulate the battery in cold weather.

Living in Montreal decided it is necessary to have a good insulator for the battery compartment so built one out of the following (pics included, yellow strap is not part of the jacket, just a powerup reminder that the gimbal clamp is in place)
-  foam packing the came with the TB48 batteries
- Gaffers tape
- Shoe Goo (from Quincaillerie Hogg)
- black velcro (Scotch fasteners from bureau en gros)
And here's a quick and dirty video of the Inspire flying with its jacket in -17 deg C. All went well, no problems and the battery performed reasonably.

It's build of neoprene pouches (for phones, small tablets), then filled with two larger foam bits for covering the battery tray sides.

And the other cold conditions trick which any photographer working in the cold north will be familiar with, wrap your equipment in a plastic bag before coming back indoors to avoid condensation. Here I popped off the propellers and the Inspire 1 slips nicely inside a recycling bag. Bring your equipment inside and leave it for a few hours to warm up to room temperature before opening the bag.
