I hate like hell to sound like a broken record but any idea whe the x5 osmo adapter will be available for sale? I've been using my x5 on my osmo with a modified inspire 1 mounting ring and it works good it's just hard to control the pan button.

From what I seen from the official adaptor and the DIY X5 fitting video, it appears all the adaptor does is to lift the X5 gimbal higher up on the handle (to provide more space to operate the joystick) and to provide mechanical support to the back of the X5 mounting point (similar to the Inspire 1). So I'm guessing the cause for the delay is firmware or something else. The X5 DIY video does appear to show the X5 not being as responsible compared to the X3 and many software controls not working or buggy

The accessory extension bar looks like it is a mid-mount to the Osmo rosette, and has a mount on either end for accessories, right? That allows the iPhone to be on the same side (port side) of the Osmo as the light and mic mounted to the Universal Mount. I finally received my straight extension arm today, but the one in the photo looks like a new model, correct?

Yes I think the delay in launching the adapter it's because the firmware is not ready.

I too hate to keep repeating myself, but it is extremely poor form to advertise the Osmo as compatible with the X5 and X5R since early October, then giving nothing away to those of us that have spent thousands on them and every accesory going, based on the fact they can be used together. Now, here i am, 3 months later with a useless handle kit, a whole host of accessories and a 2 grand paperweight.

Now we are all speculating amongst ourselves, with the occasional bone thrown to us by so called DJI people, every one of which has turned out to be untrue.

Absolutely disgusting!

Well, at least he gave you a month (March). In my software support days we usually committed to 'quarters'. e.r. Second quarter, third quarter, etc.

They gave November, then December and now maybe March.

They haven't got a clue. If they did, we'd know by now.

I m a project manager... and i never saw a project managed like this.....also, there is no communicationfrom DJI ..... all that brings frustration. But on the top of that, i can see that it s a real strategy for DJI : Same story about other products : The inspire, the osmo itself, the phatom ... in all that cases, DJI gave us a delivery date... never respected. Some time, by far.....

Update, I spoke to a person named angel kong ( very cool name by the way) and she said they were hoping to release some time in the first quarter of the year. That really narrowed it down for us.

That's just the usual BS that keeps you away until the end of March, whilst telling you nothing.

Note to all DJI customers. Beware of their mystical 'hoping' and magical 'soon'. Both are missing from their advertisements, but are considered legitimate to palm off people who have have bought in, as  they conveniently consider 6 months to pass as 'soon' in their environment from the point of payment onwards.

As if by magic, after all our complaints, DJI have added to their main advertisements that the X5 needs an adaptor that's coming soon. Clearly a damage limitation exercise.

Type in Google dji osmo x5 adapter last 24 hours or a week search and there's a guy who's got plans for a 3-d printer osmo x5 adapter. If anyone has a 3-d printer you can make your own. It shouldn't be long before there on sale on eBay for like 15 bucks.

... U will still need an firmware update tu fully use it...

@chubauk : Ok... but.... what do u suggest to do ?  personally, i have sold all my dji equipments via ebay. But i m still keep an eye on this X5 adaptor story......I understand all guys who have spend 3000$ in osmo, X5 or inspire... u have to wait....or sold your product . There are brand new ... the price should not be very low...; so... i did it....

A Couple have appeared on eBay in the Uk still haven't decided if to buy one.

Don't need to use my OSMO with my X5 yet so might wait until the official one.

Looking at mounting it on a 3m telescopic light stand with the X3 for when I can't use my Inspire  

I'm guessing the hold up on dji releasing their adapter must be the firmware.. but it might be good if they just put them on sale now.

I dont think its firmware because the basic firmware for the x5 has been there for months now on the inspire 1 pro version, i think the problem is the osmo battery cant handle the x5. I did the dyi mod on my osmo and the x5 battery life is less than 15 minutes. I think you will see a different handle osmo 2 or osmo pro version for the x5.

haha o'dear 15 minutes! I hope they do make a pro version.. 15minutes is hopeless for a real days shoot etc you'd need a silly amount of batteries & chargers.I was kind of hoping the OSMO would allow the x5 to become more like a dslr. Really what I need is an osmo with a big battery, that could work with the focus remote & has a hdmi output or works with an inspire controller for panning & wireless hdmi output.

The X5 lasts longer than 15 minutes if you aren't recording the whole time.
