I haven't really ran into too many situations involving water. Now I did shoot some video of the local river here in Dallas flooding.

Nice I like the part were you fly around the boat. When you took off from the mountain your altitude readings must have started out 0. Did you fly down lower. Was just wondering how it would handle it if your would do the RTH?

I got my drone less than a week ago and today was the first day I dared flying over water. I just couldn't resist with all these ice chunks! Luckily all went perfectly well

Ok, VPS is vision positioning system, is this only on the professional?  I'm poor, I have a lowly standard.

I have heard that flying low over water is suicide for Phantoms (GPS?), is this true?  How low?  Or urban myth?

I did small steps at first but I think I quickly got the hang of it because it is so easy to fly. Not to mention how FUN it is!

I now curse the day when there is snow or rain falling or too much wind like today. So many places where I want to fly that thing

I wholeheartedly agree!  Slow down!  I was getting sick.  I'm grateful the Phantom doesn't have a zoom lens because you would be zooming in and out fully if it did.

I like to fly over the water.  Out into the sea and back.  But the ac may not come back.  My money will disappear.

where I'm at pretty much the only open space for many miles is over the water, so I had to get over it pretty fast. I see it this way, other than the pelicans, there's really nothing out there besides me that can take me down. Over land around here its either heavily developed, or cypress swamp. And the developed areas are flooded with wifi interference. I figure I'm probably less likely to go down offshore than over land.
Here's a few quick cuts

We go down to a remote camping beach in Mexico once or twice a year with our local Dive Shop for a weekend of scuba diving and camping. I've often thought how cool it would be to have a camera drone to fly around and get some aerial views of the bay, and now that I have one, I'll likely take it down there and do some video flights.

I like to fly out into the sea but I am afraid that the signal is no good. Mine is P3S.

Here's my pal Uldis flying his P3A in Kuldiga, Latvia. The same river my house is on ....



Here's my video on same river but much further downstream where I live ... the jello is due to factory didn't fit camera properly ... I reseated the camera mount properly and all gimbal noise stopped and jello was cured ...

PS - yes we are still able to fly sensibly in Latvia ... no silly draconian rules yet ...

My first ever flight was over the lake in my back yard,after watching dozens of tutorials and reading online manual while awaiting delivery seemed to boost my confidence and let the drone do its thing.

Sorry, 11 minutes is just too long for a video. Virtually no one will watch something that long. Learn to tell the story in 2-3 min max!
