Hi,

i need your help guys  does anyone knows a way to extend the range of my phantom 3 standard , i get my phantom 3 standard 1 month ago and i dont really get the range that i spect i think that is because the CE singal , and there is no way to go back and change it for the advance i really want but here in my contry the quad is overpriced (adv $1423.00) and i cant pay it so i want a to get a solution to get more range with my standard

im ok with 1 mile or at least 1km of range and but i get only  100 meters sometimes more , in open areas 300 or 500 with weak signal so i want to see if anyone can recomend me something, is there any cheap range boster , or a lightbridge solution that i can get for this quad , i heard about this DBS antenna  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product ... _=sr_1_2&sr=8-2
but i dont know if it realy works on the phantom 3 standard , if any one tried it before please let me know if it really works

I also fly s P3S and my range is about what I would expect, given where I fly. A few things come to mind though. Do you have a clear line of sight?  Trees and buildings will block the signal. Also, be sure your antenna is oriented correctly. It should be perpendicular to the drone, not pointing at it. Another thing to try would be to add a wind surfer. You can make one for pennies. Check out tomstechtime.com. I have not tried using one yet, but I plan on building one this weekend. Many people claim that they work great.

I did 2 of those windsurf , i get an improvement , l was able to get 400 meters of altitude , before i get 100 meters , 300 meters more with the windsurf , and also range  i get 500 meters , but you know that's not good at all i need something better , well where are you from , are you from finlad ? are you able to use fcc ?

yes , i did a test on a top of 3km altitude mountain that iit was a really open area ,  and i only get 500 meters of range ,  i try the windsurf for the antenna i only get 200 meters more , it really helps but i think that may be there is something better outside to get more range with the standard

or maybe a way to change to FCC, is really bad that  DJI set CE by default if you are outside of USA, i mean  my country is really close to USA so we use almost all the regulation that they use in USA  , and all the people here that own a  p2v+ fly using FCC geting a lot better range that the p3s, so may be later they can allow us to change it to FCC

i just want to know if there is someting that we can do to get better range , i saw some videos about people that add lightbridge to the p2v+  maybe we can found something like that or at least an antenna booster

Yeah i live in Finland. I don't know about the FCC and CE!? But i definitely get an improvement with the windsurfer. I got 500m altitude also.

It about doubled the altitude and distance.

Really , i dont know how you can get 2km of range with the windsurf ,  thats totaly amazing , the max range i get is 500 meters even if i use the windsurf ,  you are so lucky may be your quad is in FCC mode !

also FCC os unated stated radio frequency regulations and CE is Europe radio frequency regulations.  the FCC signal is more stronger that the CE so thats why you get better range

Yeah dat cheap mod i amazing, if u think about it. Basically just piece of aluminium in certain angle gives you that. That 2km was over water! I wanted to try how long this goes. Was a bit nervous though, could not see the drone at all. The signal was  cutting though on the way, but i adjusted the angle of the antenna once in a while and got full signal again!

Yes , is really amazing that you get that range with just the windsurf , but you didn't modify your controller ? i dont believe that you get that range with the standard do you have any youtube video or something like that ,  here is my video using a windsurf

I can confirm the windsurfer,  I was playing around and built one with aluminum foil and a half plastic cup and tested it this morning and hit just under 6400 ft before I decided to turn around cause as foggy.  I'm gonna hit a craft store and pick up some decent materials and give it another go

just with a windsurf ?  is that for real ? its because of the FCC signal thats for sure because i  only get 500 meters with the windsurf , without it i get no more than 300 meters , i going to try in two difference areas , also with the dbs antenna it hope it helps,  the bad part of this is that in the city i get 100 meters and the other people with light bridge gets 1 mile or more with not issue at all , i hope the dbs antenna give the the range i want (at least 1 mile )

You can easily get a mile with the DBS antenna in populated area's....In open area's even more.

Otherwise the standard sucks for range, and also it's scary to fly past 500 meter's without it.

From my experience it cut's out alot in populated area's and it scares the hell out me without the extender.

Either get a windsurf or an extender from DBS MODS. I haven't personally tried a windsurf on a

standard though. I have a windsurf on my Pro though. haven't really tried it long range yet..wheather

kinda crappy here..

For anyone that want's to know the windsurf I bought for the pro:

All aluminum and super sturdy. Not the plastice or aluminum foil ones that are cheap and flimsy. If you can afford a Pro or advance it's worth it to get this one.

well i think that easily you get a mile with the DBS when you are in FCC mode but what about CE , if without the mod and with a windsurf i get 500 meters  may be the max distance will be 1 mile with CE mode , i really hope that i get more , i going to share a video later of the range that i get !
also i have 2 controllers 1 that came damaged in  the box when i buy the quad and  1 brand new that i buy ,  so i open the damaged controller and i figurate out what was the problem , the board that charge the battery of the controller  is damaged , so in order to charge the controller i need to charge it separatrly , and after that the controller works amazing , but i dont know if i can connect the battery directly to the usb port to charge it and fix the controller , do you now if it is posible i mean because of the voltage and the amps of the battery or if someone else know pleas answer

Yes it's for real it is a windsurfer I made at home but I haven't been able to hit 12k again I lost signal at 11930 today with a different design.  But I have all flight logs to prove if needed.

you are so lucky , here in the city i get 100 meters , in a top of a buildings 300 meters , in open areas 500 meters

Where I am is nothing but farm land and trees,  I'm usually pretty high when distance flying.  So far I'm getting 2 to 2.25 miles.  I'm sure it's due to lack of buildings and all the power lines

DBS on my P3P   works. You get more range than your battery will allow u to test and come back.

jeje , i know with light bridge you can go miles away , jeje too much for a 25 minutes battery , but is amazing that you never lose signal ,  but is because the light bridge helps a lot , with the p3s its different we use wifi signal , so sometimes we need more range

thanks for the link,  it looks really esthetic, , i really like how it looks , if you try it let us know what range do you get with that antenna ,  unfortunately i already pay for the DBS antenna and thats the one that im going to use  , but if someone else try it let us know about the range  

Does any one knows where i can find that glue to hold the anntena to the board , im not sure if i can use hot glue

i dont know if you need it jeje because you get  2 miles  just with a windsurf ,  i cant imagine what range you can get with a modification jeje

well i would like a more professional look then aluminum foil and plastic.  what im thinking tho is that wont fit into my case so i may just continue to play around with different windsurfer designs.  the latest didnt get as far a range as the first one.  what puzzles me tho is i made the latest one larger and better material but didnt get the ranbe.

i understand , but i have question the windsurf is only for the RC antenna not for the Video
so that means that you get more range but you lose video signal  imagine at 1km and then you keep flying without FPV
and also can you tell me why you cover the altitude in your picture ,  is just curiusity , may be you know a secrete that i dont know
may be you share that with me via  inbox  or mail or something like that
