I'm sorry if this has been answered, but I'm really confused. I remeber seeing something about Inspire (v1 Pro?) owners being able to upgade to the new v2 motors. I upgraded to the X5 and feel the inspire could greatly benifit from a bit more power now.

I've heard from sources at DJI that it is an option but have been told repeatedly that they don't have the parts right now... I'm also not sure if they'll let me do it myself (and whether that'd void the warranty) or whether they'll have to have the Inspire 1 in for some time to do it for me... In any case, I'm holding off getting the X5 and have been waiting on this for about 2 months.

I think you got a little confused. If you purchased a Inspire Pro or Inspire1 V2 then you have the updated motors/props/hubs, ESC's, and adapter plate.
All inspires sold now form DJI are V2's

I don't believe you can update your V1 to a V2 by yourself without voiding a warranty. You also need to take the legs off to change the ESC's and any kind of repair like that would need to be sent in to DJI.
DJI will repair legs on a crashed Inspire, but if you want your Inspire1 converted to a V2 I don't know if the repair center will do that.

They told me they'd do it for me, of course I'd have to pay for it but this is the service centre in Shenzhen. I was told it's possible to upgrade the motors but not the radio gear, by that point you may as well just buy a new v2 frame (without battery, camera, etc.).

I think TheAdam was saying he bought an Inspire 1 then later got the X5 and now wants to upgrade the motors. This is the same position I'm in except I haven't got the X5 yet.

Hey Ken thanks for the reply.  I purchased an Inspire 1 (v1) and then upgraded the X3 to an X5, that kit did not include new motors, only the gimbal/camera and upgraded mounting plate. Do you know if there is a way to upgrade to the V2 motors?

You will have to email sales@dji.com
If you install the motors, you will not get the full benefit of them unless you install the new ESC's which would need to sent in for repair. And I don't know if repair will do the mod. Sales will also be able to answer that for you.

The X5 seems to be too heavy on the v1.  The battery drain is a lot more than normal and my flight times have reduced to 11-12 minutes even on a calm day.

just a short feedback re: flight time. I use my Inspire pro x5 a lot and I take my bird down once the 30% warning comes. My regular flight time is around 14min.

Hello Ken, its possible to upgrade the motors, but as you said it must be performed by a repair center to avoid warranty issues.

It's not so much a warranty issue but it's changing the ESC's that you cannot do yourself. The last I heard is the repair center was only doing repairs and not modifications.
But I will ask again tomorrow to see if they can upgrade a V1 to a V2 and if so what would the preice be.

The new esc an motors

I had my V1 Inspire in for repair at the centre in L/A and asked if it was possible to upgrade to the V2 motors while at the centre. The answer I got was no, only repairs no modifications even if I would pay.

I can tell you the V2 motors are slowed down by the latest firmware. Even though it generates 4% more thrust, it's slower due to firmware

My motors have quite a few hours on them thinking of replacing them

Motors don't wear out (they are brushless) only the bearings do.
The motor 'upgrade' - if you can call the marginal kv increase an upgrade can be performed as a straight pluggable swap out as a motor an ESC combination.
It's not a difficult job (although DJI would have you believe it has to be done by Chinese master technicians and you will be cursed to an eternity in hell with Bealizibub and all his impliments of torture if you dare attempt a repair or modification to the Inspire yourself.)

If there's nothing wrong with your 1st generation inspire I would just leave it alone and have fun, I've flown 1st gen. And v2 pro and there's nothing noticeable to be gained.

I have an Inspire Pro (V 2.0) and average flight time is 11-12 minutes with TB47 batteries.
That is landing at 30% when low battery warning sounds.
I don't push my luck!!

I Have a Inspire1 v1. I upgraded everything to X5 Pro v2 including motors and ESC.  Everything went "perfect" only thing I notice is that im getting a lot of "propulsion output is limited aircraft motility has been lowered"  Do I have to change the gain or something...  Do i have to reconfigure the EXP and Gain?
