DJI.
Several posts recently on Android pnone/tables users experiencing severe problems after an apparent forced upgrade, these posts are recent and limiting the flyers abilities to use their quads as the apparent "forced" upgrade as they claim appears to be bricking their Range Extenders.....

Is you post about a problem with range of the wifi extender or range of the Phantom. The links you posted were about the range extender and not connecting to it. Please explain more about what you are describing.or what the issue is. Thanks

The title of the thread is really the question with the two OP's threads attached which you have now responded to, what they are stating happening is weird for sure and makes no sense, either explained improperly or something going on in the Android world....Hopefully someone from DJI can chime in.

UPDATE:
I have just fired up the bird P2V+ running 1.0.58 DJI vision and all is well. There were no forced updates or requests for update.  Could this only affect the 1.0.60 DJI vision software I wonder?  Maybe DJI might tell us! {:3_54:}

I haven't bricked mine yet but don't want to be the first sucker to try the new update. Will be watching for results. My motto is " no balls/no glory" but not in this case with DJI's record. I will be watching!

I didn't and I am not at home now. The WiFi extender is not sending out any WiFi at all so I don't think the phone settings will do any good as it can't communicate with the WiFi.

Dirt, it will be interesting to see how DJI tackles this one. If the extender is not working then the new update will not help. I hope they have a lot of spares to send out to replace all the bricked ones. Cannot see the end user having to send their Phantoms to DJI because of a problem DJI created! That's just not right!

This is a huge problem. The forced upgrade somehow killed my range extender, I was in a bind had to go to local tech support and buy a new one. They were completely unaware of this forced upgrade.  Phatom 2 vis +

I just bought a cheap one of Ebay before the prices go up. Now I will have to mod it for the ITE antenna. If they ask to send the old ones back they wont warranty mine because of the mod. What kills me its been almost a year since they have done anything for the P2V+ now they do this. lol

Sounds like a massive cock-up!, more importantly
IT'S NONE OF OUR FAULTS !!
So DJI what now?
We are all in charge of an expensive "brick" that none of us can do
anything about, or rectify!.
Why should we have to potentially bear the cost of replacing our Wi-Fi extenders
when it is not our fault !!
I have a P2 Vision +, and a P3 Advanced.
Want to know the best part !!
I have had my Vision from new for 8 months AND,
(Due to severe ill Health for 6 months)
HAVE NEVER EVER FLOWN IT, OR EVEN TAKEN IT OFF !!
So you could say that I am really miffed !! that I have bought a potential £800 ornament for the bookcase.
I have just recently bought the P3A, ready for a well deserved cruise to Norway in a months time.
I will be taking the P3A, and hopefully will fly it trouble free!
but it looks like the Vision will be standing on the bookcase waving me off !!!
Come on DJI lets have some answers for us avid DJI Customers !!

so it's been over a week. are you going to provide any information on a fix? Some people use these for businesses and are losing money because of the faulty update. Please provide more information and a time line on when the problem will be solved.

Is anybody with this issue able to see the "FCxxx" SSID associated with the camera?  I'm currently unable to see either the camera or WIFI extender on my P2V.

I have just tried the latest App 1.0.61 and it works fine on my bird.
(thankfully, after a b*m clenching few minutes !!)
Not sure though if my phone jumped the 1.0.60 update from the last one.
Not even sure it went to 1.0.60 before the 1.0.61 it has now.

I also have a Sony tablet Z1 running 1.0.58 and that is also fine on connection.
A bit reluctant to update my tablet until the problem is resolved.

Sounds very much like an App problem to me, how can the Wi-Fi- extender update itself from the RC Unit
if it is not connected to a PC??
Has the Wi-Fi Extender even got a firmware chip in it, there is no software / firmware program
to run it, only "The Vision Assistant 3.8"
I am no expert , it's just my opinion.
If you have 1.0.60 installed, I would be inclined to uninstall 1.0.60 and then  install 1.0.61
Re-bind and see what happens.
Better still borrow/use a compatible phone and download it on that to see if it works
Beside if you have a "brick" ,you have nothing to loose !!

Sounds like someone has not read his User Manual much !!
I read mine cover to cover at least 6 times before I even put a battery in it !!

Chris,
Will be curious to see if any affected can get some rebind to fix it, I personally have not updated and have turned off auto updates on all my devices some time ago so standing by to see what is the root cause...

There is a settings tab in the tools on your phone/tablet in the DJI Vision ap that has a selection for "Binding" and one for "Upgrade Range Extender" so not sure if anyone has scoped these out..

Is anyone here on Android running the Litchi ap as well? If so, have you tried that to see if everything works as it should via that ap?

North, I'm unable to verify any of the settings you mentioned in your post, as I am unable to connect to the range extender at all. I've also tried the reset button on the side of the extender. This appears to have no effect.

Regarding the Litchi app, I haven't tried it, but would assume similar results due to the lack of the range extender broadcasting a WIFI signal.

Tried binding to no go! There is no WiFi signal coming from the extender at all. When mine did the update a little box popped up on my Note 3 saying WiFi extender updating. The system light on the extender then did a series of blinks then went out. It seemed like the app sent the extender a WiFi update. All I know now is that its a paper weight! lol

What is the cause and status of this?
What was and is being pushed to these Wifi modules and why?
Where is DJI with regard to providing a solution?
Who gives DJI the right to force these upgrades?
Was this some kind of strange attempt to GeoFence P2's and limit their range in some way, shape or form?
Do you actually expect any P2 owner to seriously consider a P3 or whatever is next with this kind of maneuver?
