well Ive flown over 1,5 miles in distance and 500 mts high and have never lost a signal and have a clear picture all the time, does that help?.

I don't think that does help to be honest. But in all fairness, I don't think dji will give away one of their main products secrets in as far as the functionality and how the system works. I think the post above simply illustrates the point that it works, exactly as it should and that is what counts... Happy flying

P3 Pro.

It is also transmitting the 2.4 frequency for the RC control as well.

The controller and aircraft are both transmitters and receivers. Thats how i see it.

That would be correct, most modern RC aircraft are these days as they either send back telemetry or FPV (although sometimes these are separate device from the controller).

OP question was answered.
P3S is 2.4 WiFi for video and 5.8 for RC control.
There is no way to make the P3S into a Pro/Adv. The stand alone Lightbridge  is $1,000.

That standalone light-bridge is amazing, the possibilities are running through my head!

I am surprised that the ranges on the standalone unit seem rather short compared to the Phantom 3 light bridge units, is the stand alone unit based on older technology? I  would have thought the standalone unit would have higher range if anything.

Not really considering the price of a Standard vs Advanced.  Its a reduced spec thats what makes it cheaper to buy.

I know someone who monitors his yacht from inside his house using the Lightbridge as a wireless security system.

I love this idea and have a similar application.
Is there any way you could provide an 'idiots guide' to setting something like this up?

I need to power the lightbridge 2 transmitter. Is there a standalone battery solution or could i run this from a V-lock battery via a voltage regulator? What would that be?

I dont mind having the remote controller with my ipad or similar connected and the SDI out for additional monitor is awesome!

I would be ready to buy this right away if only i knew exactly what I needed!

Also on the site it advertises 5km range * but on a google search other re-sellers are saying its 2km range. Does it differ between USA and Europe or Australia models?

Actually there's no difference with any if the internals of the Pro v/s advanced except for the 4k camera.
So range is identical.

I've just heard of people with the p3a's getting less range than some of those with the pros.

I don't know why, I've actually never flown an Advanced, but I do know the Lightbridge is the same in both.

I like the idea, Ken.  I think I'll use it to monitor my G5.  .....Oh, wait.
