I like to keep my 10 Inspire Batteries fully charged and ready to go, just in case I need the bird quickly and dont have the time to top them up.
Trouble is, as you know if they are not used for a few days, they discharge into "storage" mode........so then I cycle them through the charger again.
I have 2 battery manifolds to make this happen reasonably quick.
What do you guyd do ?
If I flew the bird purerly for recreation I guess wait to charge them wouldn't be such an issue.

Keeping them charged is a sure 'fire' method to achieve a couple of outcomes.

1 a dramatically shortened battery lifespan.
And
2 a potential fire.

LiPo batteries don't work the same way as other chemistries. DJI's batteries have their own issues - as you will have read, with capacity being mis-reported through to the app and Inspires failing in flight.
There is a calibration procedure you will need to be familiar with.
Keep them stored at approx 50%, but charge to 100% before use.
Never leave a lipo battery unattended when charging.

Search the forum, plenty of information on appropriate care and feeding of Inspire batteries.

Sadly some of the stuff we do doesn't allow for the time it takes to charge a set of batteries up, so left with the choice of flying with a partially charged battery of a reduced battery life, I go with the low battery life.
and yes, Lipo's are very dangerous.....we use a lot of them, and have a fireproof battery room to make sure we are all safe here.
I don't always keep them all topped up, but I at least have 2 or 3 at all times.

Fair enough - just suggest that you spend a few minutes and read some of the content here re the Inspire and it's so-called 'intelligent' battery.

Many instances of failure/loss or uncontrolled descent due to battery issues, also lots of battery packs puffing up and becoming unstable.

Looks like there is an upgraded version of the SPC4500 that suits both the Inspire 1 and the Matrice.  It's going for £400 at aero3d

Very tempted, I must say, even if it's now in black

Yeah pretty much any battery charging exercise can be problematic....Lipo's being the worst of course.
We use so many rechargeable batteries that we set up a special place to do it, but if you are smart, I would suggest everyone buys a simple cheap smoke alarm and put it right next to your chargers...... may save your house and your life one day.

Finally managed to log in to Aero's website & purchase one of these (I think they may need additional stock soon!)

Thanks for the link guys, I almost purchased the DJI charging station!
Paul, may I inquire why you have numbered each of your batteries?

I assume it's to facilitate a log of some description?

Hi Harb
All this battery info is in the battery display... by simply recording a screen shot of that display before and after your flight all this information can be recorded, this is a much simpler way of keeping a record of your batteries... i don't have the charging station... but 3 DJI chargers instead ...
landing at 20%... 15 min on the charger will give you a 50% charge, just watch for the 3rd led to start blinking..( i just use a timer)... this is a much cheaper option than the expensive charging station... this has worked well for me as i now have over 1000 charges on my batteries...and never had any problems....

Sounds a very good idea for a newbie like me and doing likewise with a battery log would get me in to disciplined routine for when I get serious with aerial photography.  I guess the log could be a straightforward Excel spreadsheet or similar?

I do the same thing, I don't think it hurts anything to charge them every couple of weeks in the winter. I've heard stories of people storing the inspire or phantoms for the winter to find come spring time the batteries will no longer take a charge.

Yes it would.... but then they would have made it too simple for us

Having more batteries makes it harder for the copy cat grey market companies to offer non OEM replacements
