A friend of mine wants to get into UAV's. He is willing to spend $300-$400. I am pretty new myself and just have a p3p. What do you all reccomend for him?
His deal:
He does NOT have a smart phone (even though he is the head manager of a huge Grocery Store chain lol!),  
He has a Go Pro to attach to a UAV that does not come with a camera,
He is willing to buy a UAV if it comes with a camera.

Cold Climate Maine resident.

Any input would be appreciated!

I agree, if he can go up another $100 from his budget then just a bit more for a device i think he'd be glad in the long run that he did.

Someone near me had a Yuneec Q500 listed on Craigslist for $350 a day or so ago.  That would seem to hit all the bases (camera already installed and no need for a separate mobile device).

Thanks for the info on used, how about a New one?

My advise, Buy a small RC model first, and learn how to fly.
Be sure it's a hobby you want to be inviolved in, then spend the bigger bucks...

Get the Phantom 3 standard.  I have tested many cheap "drones" and they all have limited battery life, or just not very user friendly.  The PS3s is perfect for the newbie like myself and you really get to enjoy flying more then the other 5-10 minute limits the other seems to have.
Other option is if you do want to stay cheap is to look into the Patriot Drones
Parrot Bebop Quadcopter Drone
or
Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 Elite Edition Quadcopter

But again, I really do suggest the DJI line, as it has been the best models out there so far.

Like above I'd say if they can afford it a Phantom Standard or Parrot Bebop
