HOW TO CREATE A MISSION WITH WAYPOINTS BY GPS COORDINATES?
A client passed me some GPS coordinates fro, the spots he wants mapped and I am looking for a way or application to plan my mission with the lat/long coordinates sent to me.
Help please!!

As far as I know, you aren't able to put in the coordinates in advance of flying there. You'd have to fly to each coordinate manually and save them as waypoints then you can fly them automatically another time.

Bare in mind the Inspire will move in a straight line from point to point.
EDIT: I've just remembered there is one possible way, you'd have to record them in the flight simulator which would be slightly less trouble. Assuming nothing has changed in that respect since I tried it last year, you can fly to the locations in the flight simulator as if you were actually flying and record the waypoints that way.

True.. Thanks!
What I need is to specify the coordinates in order to go to the exact spot, like the microkopter application. You guys know of any 3rd party software or application that I can use with Inspire or Matrice 100?

You might have to walk the shoot out with a GPS, drop some markers at the waypoints and then fly and map the mission with the bird, then remove the markers and fly the path shooting video after all that.
long way around it, but I have a similar issue at the moment, but am to scared to use 3rd party software until the bug is fixed in the next firmware release....hopfully

Since this feature is not available in the DJI GO you will have to use the 3rd party software, something like litchi and Pix4d...

Despite it being promised repeatedly by DJI, you need a 3rd party app for proper mission planning.
As to which one, do some research as it will depend on what tablet you use and there are some firmware/sdk/app issues to be aware of.

It's been covered on the forum, do some searching.

yeah, it seems to be a decent piece of software

Drones Made Easy / Maps Made Easy does something similar.

You have more than one way of inputting your flight path - including for GPS ground control points.
I have had much success with the "mapping" of traffic intersections, small lakes and other geographical bits.
Their latest version lets you upload additional GPS waypoints via their built-in mapping link.

My 2c worth.

I am considering AFL's AP for my other work which is very long linear sections of road and power lines.

The DJI PC Simulator could have done the trick, but the limiting factors are:
Max 5mph is to slow if you fly at 50m altitude
The inability to edit (fine tune) your flight plan after arriving at the site
The inability to adjust your flight plan with direct GPS coordinate inputs.

I have come to this conclusion after an actual mission 250km from home base and with no cellular reception and/or internet connection.
There ARE still places on this earth that does not have cell phone reception... let alone internet connectivity :-(
Which implies that I had to do all my pre-planning at the office, then drive to site...

The current hardware and the future XT is what my job needs, but the GO software is no tool at all - there are just to many amateur features built in that is of no serious commercial benefit. I'd rather have less video editing and music capabilities and more flight planning features.

Here are some examples of my work:

Safe flying.

Hey mate, will this app give the coordinates of the Inspire in real time. There is nothing out there. The inspire has this information available but for some reason DJI won't do a simple firmware upgrade to allow us to see where the drone is in real time. There are little transmitters like trackimo but these are useless unless you are in cell phone coverage area. So they are useless for search and rescue. There are satellite transmitters but these are very expensive. Thanks

I nearly downloaded this. But then I saw that to get GPS you need a device with cellular data, which tells me that you need to be in a cell phone coverage area. Which goes back to what I was saying at the start. I need coordinates directly from a satellite not from a cell tower. SAR is often in the middle of nowhere where there is no cell coverage.

It looks like a great app, but are the real time coordinates still available without a cellular device.

The app only needs cell coverage for certain functions to work..... such as follow me mode on certain platforms such as the old phantom 3 series that don't have Native GPS built into the RC..

you're drone has GPS built into it... thus the App will display the location of the bird in real time. with out cell service.

ON the same note if you're RC does not have GPS and you're mobile device does not have GPS or cellular service...then the app will have no method of knowing the location of the RC..... in this case  (Functions such as follow me) will not work.

The App itself is well worth the money... if I needed the functions that you are asking about, then that is where I would personally start.

I do not work for autopilot however my experience with the app has been phenominal the few times I have used it.

any advanced  software like that takes time to learn, you'll most likely never use 90% of the functions.

Shoot them an email and see what their opinion is.

I'll just add that one of the great things about Autopilot is I was able to go out and reshoot a location today that I shot over a month ago with it. The flight was exactly the same but the sky looked a lot nicer today. As far as needing cellular, you don't as long as you initially program the flight where the app can grab the map data and even that isn't really required. You would want to have the map when you get on site just in case you want to make some corrections for obstacles and such. As previously stated here and many times elsewhere on this forum, it is without a doubt the best addition to your Inspire/Phantom/Matrice that you can buy. If you are shooting video of a static structure, it's the way to go.
