For whoever was hoping to use the X5 for wedding, I don't think the current X5 will ever be useful for a reception.  In my opinion, the X5 is only good for about two stops more light than the X3 before noise becomes noticeable.  You get about an extra stop with the lens and an extra stop of ISO.

i tried with sd card.  it won't even start the update. it has no clue the file is even on there.

It should work with X3 camera. Please refer to Firmware Upgrade Guide at http://dl.djicdn.com/downloads/o ... e_Guide_en_1225.pdf

You'd better format the SD card before the upgrading. If you have any problem, please just let us know.
