So it appaears we now have a new problem with the current firmware. I keep getting "Warning Motor obstructed" on the odd occasion when in fact both my Inspires are flying perfectly fine.

Anyone know what is causing this?

That is strange... Did you have any crash or motor impact? Make sure that there is no any sand or dirt inside

Hi Tim. No crash, motors are clean. Nothing changed during flight I was hovering when it popped up. Decided to leave it there see if anything changed, which is didn't. Landed and checked that the motors were free and they all were fine. Took off again and no error. There are others reporting a similar situation on other forums, and only since 1.6?

I'm doing some test flying to day, will see if it happens again.

I had an accident on Saturday because of motor obstructed warning. I took off and everything was fine, I went up to around 7m and then got the warning. The Inspire fell out of the sky and sheered the camera off, damaging the VPS and few other smaller things. This all happened wiithin 45 seconds. Surely I would of got the warning and accident sooner?

I am really happy I was flying in a safe manner and nobody got injured from the falling drone. I'm really bleak about this as I'm 99.99% sure the motors were free from dirt or "obstructions".

I had the same issue yesterday with an Inspire 1 Pro running the latest firmware.
Also got the "Motor obstructed" message for no reason. check the motors and everything seemed fine.
Never had this problem before until the latest firmware.

Just had similar experience..... Ive been experiencing very persistent weak/no image transmission warnings. At one point in the flight the Inspire 1 disconnected - reconnected - was still hovering where it disconnected - initiated a RTH - then said motor obstruction (in mid air) and dropped out of the sky.

Before you ask it was in a wide open space and did not hit ANYTHING. Flight logs back us up by showing it literally dropped out of the sky!

Luckily it was in wide open farmland.

We have 3 Inspires and have been experiencing very strange issues with all of them recently...We had another last week initiate a RTH out of the blue while being brought into land and it was only 1foot of the ground. The RTH could not be cancelled by the cancel button on the screen, By pressing the RTH button once or by flicking to ATTi Mode. To make things worse we didn't even have any control of the I1 during its RTH and as a result it ended u going straight up and clipping a branch bringing it back to earth with a bump.

We have flown these things for the last year and have many many hours flying with no incidents. To have 2 RTH related incidents within a week shows something is not quite right here!

Can any one from DJI help here as its like banging your head against a brick wall trying to explain this to the support teams! Any help from the forum Mods would be hugely appreciated!

I'm using another Inspire now and I am literally s**** myself every time I fly now. I can't afford to have this happen again. Apart from the obvious of checking for visible obstructions, how would I know if there is a small piece of sand or something small in the way to obstruct the motor, this being said if it is not a software fault.

For clarification, did this occur right after a firmware update, or after long term storage? Did you happen to have any hard landings prior to this? If you were to turn the motors yourself, do they seem to spin freely, or does there feel like there is scrapping? Any .DAT files or Flight Records would be appreciated.

It seems that you have your own thread on your issue and indicated that the Europe Repair center has been assisting you. For clarification, did you send in both aircrafts in for evaluation, or are you still holding onto the one that incurred the motor obstruction error?

Jamie, Incident 1 DJI have confirmed a "quality issue" and it has been sent in for repair/replacement.

Incident 2 they we are awaiting a result from data analysis. We won't be sending it back in until we hear back.
Please see dropbox link below with access to the DAT files from incident 2.

To update everyone, DJI have analysed the flight data from incident to and have offered free replacement . The engineer report states that the Motor just stopped in mid air and fell to the ground.  Fair play top dji support as they have been quick to analyse the flight logs on both occasions and offer up free replacements on 2 birds in a week!

It would seem that they have sorted out their support system!

Any kind of addon or payload including stickers are the biggest causes of motor obstruction.

No hard landings, haven't recently updated firmware and motors seemed to spin fine after the crash. Been flying the Inspire regularly, so it wasn't in long term storage. Here is the flight record for that flight. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/56yg4 ... _bWcF0VJ9A2wva?dl=0

These are not DAT files from the aircraft, they are very tiny files.
A DAT file of a flight would be hundreds of megabytes.
if you can download the DAY file again, also one upload the flight in question.
There's almost 50 entries, the data analysis team cannot go through that many flights.

I'm still not seeing it, closest to what I found is a flight on my app says 16:34 and it looks like a continuation  of another flight. All I see is a signal loss and not a motor obstruction.
In your app how many minutes into the flight do you see the warning.
Also, if you can star the flight as a favorite and re-sync.

Now I see the last flight is Dec 14th 2015. Did you delete all of 2016. You need to re-sync again.
Honestly, the best thing is to have the DAT file from the aircraft analyzed since the flight data recorder holds much more information that the flight records in the app does.
You would need to start a ticket to have that read.
