I read the the battery should be discharged after about every 20 flights. How is the best way to do this?

Probably the easiest/fastest way is just to let the P3 hover for ~20 minutes, watch the battery level in the GO app.

Can you remove the battery from the a/c, turn it on and let it drain itself?

Hi! I think no because after 20 minutes of inactivity it will turn of automatically.

No, the battery has to have a load on it. You can drain it by letting it hover, but that means having to keep an eye on it. Another way is to sit itt on a bench, without the props on, and let the motors idle. You might place a fan to blow air on the aircraft to keep things cool, particularly the camera.

If you hover your aircraft to drain the battery make sure you disable RTH.   I know it says it will land if within 20 meters of the home point, but mine did not, it flew up and sideways into a tree.  Best set it to hover or land just to be safe.
