I'm looking to buy my first quadchopper. I was considering the Phantom 3, but with the recent release of the Phantom 4 is it worth spending the extra cash and go with the P4?
Will the Phantom automatically returns home if the battery begins to get low?

All Phantom 3 lines will return home when the battery is low.  If you can afford the DJI Phantom 4, then just go for it.  If you want to get the cheap route and have a solid starter drone, the DJI Phantom 3 standard is also an excellent choice.

Yes, all the P3 series and P4 will return home if the battery is getting low, and also if they lose signal.

Perhaps you could start off by stating what you want a Phantom for, that would influence the advice as to which model to choose?
