The Assistant software for the P4 is for updating firmware, downloading flight records, calibrating the camera sensors, and a flight simulator.
The camera sensors are calibrated from the factory and should not need any calibrating unless there's an issue.
If Mac doesn't let you open the app please follow the next steps:
1. Open the System Preferences
2. Go to Security& Privacy
3. Allow apps downloaded from anywhere

Exib- Right after you try to open it and get that message, go to Apple > System Preferences > Security and choose 'Open Anyway'. It should open after that just fine.

Correct, you will need to accept a few permissions for the app to get up and running.

Pretty poor piece of software.  Won't even let my login.  Have tried restarting but unable to enter any text.

Just another fine example of rushed out the door software... You guys "DJI" need to learn a few things about programming and a touch about business... (Seems somethings lost in the translation)

I was able to successfully use the assistant for the Mac. I re-did the firmware update and it several times had an error but eventually went through. I don't know if the "driver" app had anything to do with it. Not even sure what it does. But after I install it the firmware went through. I also re-calibrated the camera. Thanks DJI for making it happen please continue to improve it.

Glad you got it going. Remember, On a PC, make sure to run as administrator. On Mac make sure that the driver and dmg is installed correctly.

On IOS you see under the RTH icon on the left, it's the RC icon that takes you into all the flight modes.
On Android, you have to have the aircraft powered up and then you'll see the RC icon.

Does the Ronin power up? Do the battery indicators not light up if you use the Ronin and drain the battery then charge.

I had a few issues trying to get this up and running on the old version thanks to the security issues. When you get the "won't open' box, there's a little '?'. Click on that and it gives you a different way, which worked for me.

Is there any documentation?

Also I'm trying to download my flight records and the wheel just keeps spinning and spinning and spinning. Did that on the previous version too.

Ken, before downgrading FW on my P4 RC, i attempted to update A/C using the Assist2 with no luck.  I use a MBP with latest OS and an iPhone6.   I plugged a/c into my laptop, started it up and clicked on assistance from my finder window.  Immediately after logging in it started to look for my FW version.  I waited up to 5 minutes and it never identified the version installed or gave me the option to upgrade.  Can you point me to a thread/site with more detailed instructions on installing the app.  Thank you!

Still can’t open DJI Assistant 2. Am running Sierra. There is no option  button to open from anywhere. The only option is open anyway, when I click that I get a pop up. Assistant can’t be opened because the identity of the developer cannot be confirmed. I am signed on as the administrator.

When I connect to upgrade the software on my phantom 4, the computer sees the phantom and appears to download the upgrade to the computer but it times out say its unsuccessful and asks if you wish to retry.  I've done that several times to no success.  Any ideas as to why this is?  I'm on a Mac.

Power up the aircraft and go to the About page and what version is the aircraft on?
Did the app tell you that there was a firmware update required, there hasn't been a update for a bit but there was an RC update to 1.8 a week and 1/2 ago.
You'll update the RC via the GO app, and you can also update the aircraft via the app.

to DJI Ken...gday mate , a quick question... i recently bought a phantom 4 and have completed all my updates via the mobile device. Why is the "assistant 2" program needed?

The Assistant2 is just another way of upgrading/downgrading firmware.
Also, if the app ever tells you that the sensors need to be calibrated, then you do that threw the computer.

Hi Ken, My Mac OS is Sierra ver 10.12 and block the assistant2. Under Security and Privacy in the system preference there is no longer any choice "anywhere" but instead a button open anyway which I click and a small window appears verifying the app, immediately thereafter the same window appears saying the software is block. I tried a few times and it keeps looping back to the initial screen saying the app is not from Apple.
Please advise a work around.

Flight Record on the DJI Assistant 2 just spins the wheel. (15 minutes and waiting)... I have a Mac with Sierra OS. (I've disabled any anti-virus stuff on the mac too)
