Hi,

I am looking for a decent landing pad. I know there is a banner type on the net that can be pegged down but wondered if there was anything that could fold up small enough to put in a rucksack and light enough to carry around?

Thanks in advance.

I Just use a rubber Mat, but I have also used an old photographic reflector as well...... the round ones that twist and fold.

I second the old photographic reflector. Really simple and compact. And even if you don't have an old one...they are super cheap.

Landing Pad

I fly a lot at construction sites and beaches, not a great place to land your bird. I found a great folding camping table at a Gander Mountain store. Photo link is below. I have never had problems with gear coming down on auto. The bird seems to see the pad just fine. Never had a mishap. It does require a bit of  skill landing but no big deal, you could practice on a hard surface with the tables legs folded up with no danger to your bird. Second link is on the job.
Cheers,

I put this on another thread

The landing pad is made by HoodMan and this is the 3 foot pad!! Just big enough for the Inspire 1. They also have the 5 foot version ($130).... I think it is very nice to have when flying in areas in the mountains and rivers. Most likely will use this at the coast (beach) to keep it out of the sand.

The small one is nice and easy to use... The P4 is perfect for this one... The Inspire fits but you need to be on top of the controls especially if it is windy!

I like it and it weights about 3 pounds.

That's another great idea! hopefully the landing area is big enough so you stay on the table    How does the prop blast work with this? Is it easy to blow around in the wind?

Homemade landing pad with battery RGB strip lighting and strech film wrap over the table top, the legs are detachable. Makes take off and landing look a little more dignified.

Can be seen from 495ft altitude. But it looks like one pixel from so far away, table top is 50cm sq, aslo the lights flash on and off.

I really notice the difference between my P4 and the Inspire landing on my 3' pad and if it is windy all bets are off.
The LED pad is really cool too...

I just use a large door rubber mat. Simple, cheap, easy to roll together and transport. I have a smaller mat for the P3/P4, and a larger one for the Inspire.
