I purchased a battery a few weeks back. I have charged it about 6 times now but the app shows 2 charges. I have been running it down to 50% each flight (breakin period) and of course charging it back up to 100% on the day i use it.

I noticed similar things with mine.  It doesn't seem to count all charges.  Does it need to be run WAY down to register a charge?  I don't know.  I just recently did a "calibration" discharge/charge on both of mine, but didn't even think to check the charge number beforehand.

Buggered if I know, mine does the same. It shows way less charges than have actually been performed. I just ignore it now.

I dont have a problem with ignoring it,im just curious. If i remember correctly, you fly to 50% every flight.Am i correct?  How many of your batteries do this?

This was explained by DJI in the Ph2 forums before. It measures the mAh the battery receives and 1 cycle is equivalent to the full capacity, i.e., 4480 mAh for P3 or 5200 mAh for P2.

Cheers.

So if the battery for some odd reason is not charging to 100%, it wont register as a charge cycle?

Yeah, I don't fly to low battery values for safety reasons. My batteries seem to show about half the actual number of cycles. I have 3 batteries.

Well if thats the case, flying to only 50% cant be good thing. If what jaycee says is correct, the batteries never receive 100% full charge in order to be counted as a charge cycle. Only one of my batteries does this and coincidently, it has a much shorter flight time than my other 2.

I still run the batteries down afterwards, I just don't fly for less than 50%. I only just managed to afford to buy this aircraft, and I take no risks with it.

So if the battery for some odd reason is not charging to 100%, it wont register as a charge cycle?

We never really drain the battery down to zero so its always a partial charge (less than 100%). It will sum up the mAh received from every charge. Eventually, it accumulates enough for 1 cycle.

The battery count works like this.
You have 1 battery.
Flight 1. You use 80% and charge it to full. This is 0.8 of a cycle.
Flight 2. You use 60% and charge it to full. This is 0.6 of a cycle.
Flight 3. You use 90% and charge it to full. This is 0.9 of a cycle.

0.8+0.6+0.9 = 2.3 cycles. The app will only show 2 cycles.
Make sense? So fully charging a battery to 100% (technically) does NOT count as a cycle. If this was the case, I would be at 400 as I top up before I fly.

It´s logical, but. I took off, check the battery and it was 3c, flew till 50%, landed, turn the drone off, after 5 minutes took off again with the same battery, check again and it was 4c.

I would be wary of launching with a 50% battery

not recording a cycle is a good thing because these batteries only last 200 cycles
